Clear Rate Communications Reviews

Poor Service
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE DEAL WITH CLEAR RATE COMMUNICATIONS!

I wish I would have known about this site before signing on w/Clear Rate. The other day friends began telling me that when they called me the phone would ring once and then static and die. I was not able to receive calls, but could place outgoing calls including long distance. I called Clear Rate and they told me it must be an inhome inline problem. However, if I was able to make outgoing calls, caller ID still worked, it couldn't be my inline problem. They told me to unplug phone for 30 minutes and it should be fine. Instead of "resetting" my phone now rings busy - I can't make or place calls.

Now when calling, Clear Rate said they won't check to see if it's a network problem. Told me to go out to the box outside of my home myself and check. I have no idea about these boxes and there are warning about being "shocked" or penalized by "authorities" for tampering with the box. Clear Rate says for $100 they'll come out and check.

This is the 3rd time in 3 months something similiar has happened. I went one time 2 weeks without incoming service, but could place outgoing service. Now I am the fool for not cancelling then.

It has been 3 days now and I can't get them to respond. At least last time I could make the call in the event of an emergency. Now nothing!

No service, but wants $282.98 for services .provided
This company called my wife and told her they had a lot better phone service package than our present carrier( Verizon), she said she would talk it over with her husband(Me) and get back to them.We talked it over and we decided to just stay with Verizon. A couple days later people were calling us on our cell phone cause they could not reach us on our home phone, i called Verizon and asked if there was a problem in our area cause we have no phone service, they informed me that they are no longer the carrier for our service and that they cannot help me, you need to call your new carrier, Clear Rate. I proceeded to call Clear Rate and they informed me that my wife gave them permission to change our service, ( which she did not do). Come to find out, they dis-connected my phone service to Verizon on the same day they talked to my wife, without her permission, and when i told them i have no phone service now at all, their reply was that they have a lot of customers changing carriers to Clear Rate, and my service should be back on within 72 HOURS !!! And, at this point it had already been off for 3 days.
From the time they turned off my service and i switched back to Verizon, we had no service for 9 days !!! Now, i am getting a bill for $282.98 for services they provided to us. Lets see here where those charges came from...If you have NO Phone service.
a) Cannot make or receive calls. ( which means no charges there for calls made or received).
b) No Internet ( so cannot use that, so no charge for Internet).
c) No products ordered or delivered, No charge there).

How can you have a bill for services, when they did not supply you any????

This company is a "Joke" and you need to avoid them completely !!!

I have sent them several letters explaining that i do not owe this bill, to date i have had no reply except for this new bill, in which i am NOT gonna pay, and i am forewarding this matter to my Attorney for further action.

fraud/no service provided
My 80 year old mother-in-law was contacted by Clear Rate and convinced her to switch to their service in December 2009. She was without phone service for a 2 week period. When family tried to contact Clear Rate, they were told that we could not be talked to since we were not on the account. They suggested that this 80 year old woman (who doesn't drive) walk to a pay phone to contact them. We found another provider. Unfortunately, Clear Rate is threatening to report my mother-in-law to a collection agency for phone service she never had. This company has no customer service and is a complete fraud.

Seizing a phone number then no service for 12 days
On The third call they finally told my mother to answer yes to all their questions. They seized her phone number on December 16, 2009. We were not able to get verizion back until December 28, 2009. All of the 12 days my mother had no phone service incoming or outgoing then they have the nerve to send a monthly charge bill of 61.96 includes tax. HOW CAN THIS BE WHEN YOU RECEIVE NO SERVICE? Now we receive a bill for 118.30 a one time charge is added to the amount $99.00 . THis is ridiculous I have filed a complaint with the BBB of Detroit and Eastern MIchigan. Contacted local tv station for help and am going to file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office as this should not happen to anyone else. I think they only have one employee and his name is Nicholas in the office. He gets louder when you ask to speak to supervisor.

poor service
Clear Rate Communications is the worst company EVER !... they have VERY poor managment and do not listen to thier customers at all.. They just want their MONEY and keep you as a customer even though your disatisifed with the service. When asking for a manager you are always told they are not available, Im sorry but when I call and get bad service and want to speak with a Supervisor I dont mean a call back, I want to speak with a supervisor now when im on the phone with you... I feel bad for all the employees that work for Clear Rate Communications because working for Kaldians must be a very hard thing to do.. Again all they care about is thier MONEY!!! I WOULD NEVER EVER IN MY LIFE TRUST THIS COMPANY AT ALL.. their phone service SUCKS.. when you have issues they blow you off and tell you that it will be like a week before someone can service you.. WTF is that... CLEAR RATE COMMUNICATIONS IS THE BIGGEST SCAM ALSO.. THEY TARGET OLD PEOPLE THEN TELL THEM THEY CANT SWITCH AWAY WITHOUT PAYING A PENALTY...I hope the go down with their poor service.. they really do not know how to run a phone company properly...

phone scam
After hearing all the details of the phone service I declined the offer because Verizon was way cheaper than Clear Rate, within the week I received a bill from Clear Rate, they had not only switched my service without my permission but the rate was double what they originally quoted. Now I have called them three times without being able to cancel because they are reviewing my recorded call, in other words, they are accusing me of lying about declining the offer. What a nightmare, I will NEVER listen to another phone soliciter again!!

Fraudulent company
I had a customer service rep. contact me 2 weeks before I moved to another address, offering me a "wonderful" calling package that would "fit all my needs, and save me money". I inquired about moving service, and asked about any fees for switching residences. There were none, or so I was told... I was also supposed to have unlimited nationwide calling, for less than I was paying through Verizon. Well, I received my bill for $255.58 the other day. What happened to $45.00 plus tax? I had also given a day for my move, which AFTER I consented to their service, was told that I would be charged $60.00 for them to disconnect my phone line from my old place, and reconnect to my new place. Um, excuse me... I was told there wouldn't be a charge, since they knew up front that I was moving within 2 weeks of signing up for service. I called to find out why I was being charged for long distance, and was told it was due to using dial up internet services. Those ARE NOT included in your "UNLIMITED nationwide calling", I was asked when I signed up what was my primary use for the phone, I explaned that I was a student, so I need not just phone but internet services also. Why would I sign up for services that would cost me MORE, and include LESS? I WOULDN'T... and I DIDN'T... Also I told them I was moving on the 1st of May, I have long distance charges on my phone that not only did I not make, but I also have Long distance calls from DAYS AFTER I moved. Explain that one to me. Basically they have crummy customer service, and can't even put you on with a supervisor, but they will rape you, of anything they can, and try to make it YOUR fault.
