How can anyone find out if they are dealing with a true travel professional these days?

I was referred to a travel agency in Maryland by a friend, well, friend of a friend for a large, complicated group cruise. I called this guy. I emailed this guy. Days later he finally decided to get back to me.

I was mad!!! I did a little digging on this guy and he has about 15 different jobs/companies from a contract worker as an Engineer to an E-bay seller and the list on this guy went on and on. Needless to say I wouldn't use this guy because when would he have time to do travel work? And this is not the only case I ran across when trying to find a travel agent to book a huge group cruise.

I thought CLIA was the governing board over travel agencies. Why don't they make travel agents who hold other jobs state they are not full time professionals instead of allowing them to get away with this misrepresentation.

Thank you for allowing me to vent. I used a REAL travel agent with an actual office in my town.

BEWARE OF INTERNET TRAVEL AGENTS! Most are NOT full time professionals!! Check before you book!!
