I am a technician and have been installing CCTV equipment for the past 10 years. I work for a communications company, and i have private clients on the side. Closeout CCTV does offer great prices, however the key thing to remember when buying electronics, or anything for that matter, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Upon my client ordering 3 "new" PTZ dome cameras, one of them failed the initial start up screen, one was functional, and one had video and no ptz control. After troubleshooting for hours and no positive results, i took it upon myself to call tech support. What a fucking joke! The guy whose name i talked to was Tony, he didnt even know the difference in serial or parallel cabling for the ptz controls. After instructing me to turn on the terminal resistor dip switches on all the cameras< WHICH THE MANUAL TELLS YOU SPECIFICALLY NOT TO> i realized my partner and i were in for a shit show. First of all if youre gonna do any kind of tech support, YOU NEED FIELD EXPERIENCE. After running all new cabling for power and PTZ controls as i was instructed by the geniuses at tech support, i ended up basically wasting 5 hours of my 'free time' for nothing. this issue has not been my first bad experience with this company. this company is a joke this is not my first install and the company will not (strictly will not allow anything to be RMA'd. i would never suggest this company to anyone who needs their system to work.
my client has bought about $5, 000 worth of their equipment and they will not except the fact that half their shit out of the box is a damn dud. to sum it up if you need a $1, 5 00 PTZ, then go buy a $1, 500 PTZ from a REAL manufacturer who can support their equipment.
