Do not deal with them
This website lists cameras and accessories at unbelievably low prices. They obtain your credit card number but never compete the sale. Calls to the company result in excuses such as "not in stock", "awaiting delivery", etc. My recent calls have been merely to let them know what kind of company they are. Since there is no location or address, the BBB will not accept a compaint. I have waited up to nine months with calls to them every few months. Of course, I have changed my credit card number to protect myselt. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM!

Bait and Switch
DO NOT BUY FROM THESE DISHONEST PEOPLE!
Ordered a new digital camera on their website. I was called at 7:20 am the next morning and someone with a very heavy accent first stated that he needed to verify my shipping address then told me that I needed to buy the battery (every other site says the battery is included). I told him that I didn't want to buy the battery, just the camera. I was told then that I couldn't just the camera! I couldn't believe it. I cancelled the order. How and why are people like this in business?

SCAM ARTISTS
Once again, I am sharing my opinion and disgust for CLOSEOUT ISLAND.COM! I am outraged and horrified to believe that during this rough economical time that we have people out there still trying to scam people out of their hard earned money. This is why I want every other peson that has ben scammed by CLOSEOUTISLAND.com and their other fraudulant affiilates to contact me!

[email protected]

I am a simple, honest, hard working individual that simply wants JUSTICE! I believe that collectively we can do much more damage, rather than alone. We should organize and come up with a strategic plan to get JUSTICE...whether that is by an investigation of fraudulant tactics, close their business, or simply get monetary restitution for their scams. Believe me...I AM SO SERIOUS ABOUT THIS!!! I have created a new email account solely for this effort!!! ([email protected]) I believe that if we congregate together, share stories, gather hard eveidence of our claims, and research methods of restituition...we can make this a reality.

PLEASE..join me in getting JUSTICE. this is far more greater than money. Think about the mental frustration that went along with their scams. Constant calls for answers but to no avail! It's sad. Companies like this thrive off of the consumers ignorance of restitution mediums and lack of gusto to even pursue JUSTICE! Let's rally together and show them what we can do...collectively!

P.S. Here is another link of people that have been scammed by CLOSEOUT ISLAND.COM and their other clever aliases. (I say this because if you do a keyword search on Yahoo! for CLOSEOUT ISLAND you will fin their main website but plenty of other websites names that have the same contact number...RED FLAG!!!)

Once again...contact me at [email protected] and let's strategize to get JUSTICE!!!

Liars and Fraudulent!!!!!!!
I agree with you 100%. They are complely fraudulent. I recently purchased a Canon camcorder and they tricked me with the same deal. The rep told me that the camera only comes with a 15 minute battery and that he would sell me a 4 hour battery for a sale price of $129. Since I was buying online I thought that it would be wise to get some warranty with the camera as well, in case i got a lemon. That was $200 dollars. the camcorder itself was inexpensive at $384. Well with that I was looking at approximately: $384 + $129 + 200= $713 x 1.09= 777.17 then he said something about shipping insurance at 8% but he would give me a deal of 6% so $777.17 x 1.06=823.80. I was charged $839. ( I was told that I could get a full refund if I changed my mind.) Well I did change my mind after I did the math and found out that they were also charging me shipping insurance on the warranty, which if in their system needs no security. I tried to cancel the next morning. That was when I was told that it would be charged 8% of the total 15% of the total which came to $125. I was told that if I tried to cancel my credit card that I would still be charged and also pay my bank for cancelling. I was told that I got a good deal.

The package came i didn't open it because I wanted to send it back. I called and talked toa so called manager. he tried to console my fears that I had I good deal and all. So I was like well at least I didnt have to pay $1000 which is the original price plus I have some bonuses. So I got home today and I opened my package. To my horror, there was no rapid charger, 4 hour battery, warranty, or anything that was promised. The way that I know this is because I called Canon to confirm the battery life. The official Canon rep told me that I had the standard package and that the battery has a charge of only 70-80 mins. To addd insult to injury, I was told that there is no such thing as a rapid charger that they make. The standard is 200mins and the other is only 170mins to charge. Not what I call "rapid'. PLEASE WHATEVER YOU DO...DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH WWW.CLOSEOUTISLAND.COM!!! They are a bunch of liars and scam artists. Prime example, if you look on their website they have memory cards for $200!!! You can buy thee same memory cards on amazon.com for only $15. Example number two: I asked for an itemized bill and all that I received was an empty speadsheet and the total shown! Be Smart and dont lose your money.

I will give my email addres so that other people that have been scammed can rally with me to come against them and possibly get some of our money back. I'm not gonna give out my name but you can contact me at [email protected]! Let's get justice!!!

Avoid this outfit
Ordered Canon digital camera. got emails to call to confirm order. told that i need an extra battery because the Canon battery is 'temporiary'. i refused and wanted just the camera. never arrived. call them after a month of waiting, they say it's out of stock. classic bait and switch. why is this outfit still in business. they are a bunch of crooks. I've had to buy a second battery in the past, and of course it was a piece of junk, whereas the original was fine. Knowing this, I was not about to be scammed again. avoid this outfit.

Fraud hoax, FBI investgating
closeoutisland.com advertises a CANON EOS 5D MarkII for $1199. I called and they say it is new and a US model. I asked questions like, how can you sell it for half the price of competitors. the sales person went off the line for a few minutes and returned giggling and saying, "yeah, sure" to all my questions. It is obvious this is a hoax organization and after reading other complaints I have asked my brother who works in the fbi to investigate

Liars
I ordered a camera from them, and they wound up sending me some sort of old, "refurbished"camera, with bootleg parts that didn't work, other parts of the package were missing- however the store advertised the camera as a brand new US model. so i sent it back and was never refunded in full- nor was a new camera ever sent to me. this website scams people a lot, and all the good reviews on their website are all lies- they write them themselves! There is no feedback option on the site whatsoever.

Bait-and-Switch
Really, really, really bad, unethical people.

A month after I placed two orders for the same model camera, I got two different Bait-and-Switch sales pitches:

Order 1: "Joe" calls to inform me that didn't I know that the camera does not include a battery. He offers to sell me a battery.

Order 2: I receive an email:
"Thank you for your recent order with CloseoutIsland.com.Your patronage was greatly appreciated.
This email is to inform you that for security purposes, a confirmation is needed to complete your order. Please contact our confirmation department at 1-800-922-4752 ext 211, order number xxxxx-W.

When I called 1-800-922-4752 ext 211, he says the camera is not in stock.
