Co.fi contracted Kyafiwa Events to host an event on the 12th of Feb with top South African Artists. But now does not want to pay the total to the events company despite getting sponsor (SAB) plus the gate takings (over R40 000). Over 700 people attended the show, at Cedar Square.
Given our relations with the artists we are able to procure a package with multiple performances from top South African artists.
We agreed on a payment of R60 000 but only R40 000 has been paid and now the shortfall is denting our relations with the artists and cofi overrides the fact that this is our sole means of income/survival. We are at the stage of notifying all stake-holders before we go to the media and other platforms where we can place complaints.
The R60 000 (package) includes the following below:-
Performing Artists (Big-Nuz & Professor)
Dj's (Mzu, Eigth W, Ceeya and Bongz)
Flight costs
Dancers
Accommodation
Marketing costs
System Sound
I have made multiple communications with cofi, first ignored but I then got a call from the owner asking me to "forget about the artists she will introduce me to people I can make money from."I could sense an element of disrespect and disregard for other business.
The excuses furnished for non-payment are as below:-
Walk outs on bills
Expected to make over 150 000 but only made R80 000
They are in debt and don’t have money
Dj Tira was not there
The expected to make over R50 000 at the door but only made over R40 000
Broken glasses
Broken tables
Staff (waiter/waitress) not being given tips
Artist came in late
Cofi bar owes us R20 000, and frankly we will file complaints and all angles and platforms possible. The sponsored money they used my document to secure sponsorship from SAB.
