I brought my vehicle into cole muffler because my gas gage was not working properly. The shop supervisor and mechanic told me that it was my fuel sensor sending unit that was bad. but they couldn't replace just the sending unit because the sending unit, fuel pump and fuel filter was one unit and the parts weren't interchangable, based on this, I had them replace the entire unit. This did not correct my fuel gage problem. I went back several times, they checked my wiring and couldn't find anything wrong. After spending $500+ and alot of time and agravation to get my fuel gage fixed, they explained to me that chevy trucks often have this problem and I will just have to live with it. I didn't except that, and took my vehicle to a GM dealer. After spending another $500+ at the GM dealer the fuel gage was fixed. They said it was the fuel sending unit, and the sending unit can be changed seperately from the fuel pump. They also informed me that the fuel sending unit was the original GM component and the fuel pump and filter was a new after market component, indicating that cole muffler took my old sending unit off and put it on the new pump when they told me that that couldn't be done, and the sending unit was the defective part that needed replacing. Also, GM told me that the fuel filter was not tightened down to the fuel tank and they did not put the fuel line clips back on, when cole muffler inconvenienced me by keeping my vehicle overnight because they were waiting on clips. I have been back to that shop a couple of times now, aggressively pursuing a refund. Cole muffler has indicated to me that they will refund me for the fuel component that I did not need, but, they say they can not do it with a corporate check, that it will be in cash, and only when they have the money in the drawer; sounds fishy huh. Sounds like they are waiting to accumulate money they have overcharged/stole from other costomers, so they wont show a refund or loss in profit in order to conceal this from their corporate management...
