40% discount poor customer service
Basically, on Saturday two styles of columbia jackets were on sale on one of the highest racks in the back of the store. The two styles were right under the sign that was marked clearly 40% off. My mother puchased the style right beside it a beige colour and I wanted to purchase the black/grey hooded one next to it, but they did not have my size otherwise I would have purchased it. I got the numbers off the tag so I could phone around to see if another store had it. I lost the information so I came back to write it down again and the small and medium sizes were not on the rack anymore. The lady tells me they never go on sale, and I said my mom bought a columbia jacket on saturday and it was 40% off. The lady told me if their not on the rack they don't have anymore. Then out of the corner of my eye, I spotted one of them on a rack that was on the floor level and the sign on that whole rack said 40% off. Anyways, you'd think they'd offer to call out to the other stores for me, but know the lady was too interested in talking with the other sales clerk. So, I phone abbotsford, find they have my size. I got it held at the cash desk. They said I had to get the Langley sears to call out to their store something about a template. Then when I phoned the Langley store, to arrange so they could ship the jacket from abbotsford to langley and I would pick it up there. After all this arranging. The sales clerk at the willowbrook branch tells me I have to come in and pay for it first before they could ship it which I do understand. (Would have been nice to have been told that when I was there and ready to puchase it), and then after all this arranging which could have probably been done in no time and one trip at the store, I am told the jacket is not on sale. After it had been on two different racks with signs on them showing clearly 40% off. The fact that I inquired and wanted one when it was on sale, I think some kind of policy could have been put into place as I could have purchased it both times I was there with the 40% sign hanging over the jacket. False advertising and the clerks just don't know their own stock. I am told by one clerk oh those don't go on sale, when my mother clearly purchased a columbia jacket just a day prior for the 40% off. And the next day another clerk, she says well if their not there they've been sold and I find one of them on another rack just a few feet from her. She didn't even bother to look, she was more interested in talking with another clerk than helping me. This isn't the first time I have dealt with inexperienced clerks there. After all that, I think I will continue doing the bulk of my shopping at the Bay, the sale signs are clearly marked and the clerks are more professional and older. Also, the coat section with the coats that are on the racks on the floor, they are so jammed against one another and you can't walk between to racks without getting squished in and brushing against the other jackets that are surrounding you. I think the whole section and store should be redesigned. Track lighting above and jackets sectioned off better, and not jammed in against one another so you can barely pull them out when looking at them and even to put them back is quite the experience. I liked the fact the jacket I was interested in, there was lots of room on the rack as only two left and I could actually see the style of it from a distance. Had it of been jammed in like the rest of them, I doubt I would have seen the styling of it. The store needs a tuneup and procedures need to change for better customer service, and your sale signs need to be clearly above the items that are only on sale, and clerks need to be more in tune with that. Thank you!
