No heat since January 2011
I filed a complaint against Comfort Control with the better business bureau at the end of January because I had no heat and Comfort Control would not repair my furnace which I bought from them and was installed by them on November 9, 2007. I called Comfort Control on January 19, 2011 and informed them that my furnace was not working. They sent out a technician which charged me 180.00 for a new service contract. I paid them by check. Two days later my furnace again stopped working and I called them up for service. The technician again came and told me that the furnace had a problem with the control board and that it needed to be replaced. When I called again they had a technician come at 9:00 pm to tell me that I just had to press some cable on the furnace and it would make it work. I had to do that on several occasions and finally got some sparks coming out from the cables. I informed Comfort Control and they told me that the part that needed repair would cost me $845.oo. I told them to contact the manufacturer because the contract stated that I had a 5 year manufacturer warranty. They said they would do that. After a week of no answer, I called the manufacturer myself and they asked me for the serial number of the furnace which I gave them and they told me that it had a 5 year manufacturer warranty and that I should call the contractor and let them know. I called Comfort Control and spoke to Lou which was the person I was dealing with all along and told him to please contact the manufacturer for the part and let me know. He said OK. After that conversation Comfort Control would never answer my calls. I called 311 to give my complaint and they referred me to Dept. of Consumer Affairs. To make a long story short, I was visited by the Dept. of buildings yesterday, April 6, 2011 for an investigation and it turns out that the furnace that I bought from them and installed by them was never registered for a permit to install. Therefore, I received a violation to show for repairs by June 3, 2011. I am not a contractor and the only contractor that should deal with this issue is Comfort Control. Please advise me and if possible put them on shame, shame, shame.

Failure to refund overpayment
Yearly Contract Fee was paid 6/08 in the amount of $178.82. Service call was requested 10/08 at my request. A neighbor let the technician in and was provided with a check made out to Comfort Control, the amount for the service call, if any, needed to be filled in. The technician requested payment of $178.82 and the check was issued. Comfort Control has admitted that this fee should not have been collected since the contract was in effect. Through his staff, the manager, Loius has promised refund of the overcharge of $178.82. Four months later, I am still waiting for my refund as well as a return call from the manager.
