shoe warranty
On Feb 21, 2001, I went to this store for a pair of shoes that I needed to waer for Letter Carrier work. I told the lady at the store that my main concern was that the shoes must not slide so I do not get blisters as I would be walking 10 to 15 km's a day as a Letter Carrier for Canada Post. The store lady assured me that would not be a problem as these shoes, Mephisto shoes, had a full 1 yr warranty. I tried on the shoes with the 2 pairs of thick thermal socks I had on from that day of working outside. They seemed snug. so I left the store with the shoes on to go home. Upon arriving home, i took off one of the pairs of socks and noticed that the shoes slid around on the inside. They were about 1 size too large. I tried putting in an insole but they are still much too large. the very next day I called the store lady to let her know I will be exchanging the shoes for a smalelr size and she said that she would not take them back because I wore them out of the store. This was not explained to me at the time of pruchase or I would not have worn the shoes home! I feel cheated by her as she did not tell me this would void the warranty when she saw me put them on. I also called the shoe manufacturing company to complain (Mephisto Canada) and they sent me back an email telling me that even if I do return the shoes later on for any other reason that the warranty was not free. It costs anywhere from $115 to $175 to return a defective shoe! I paid $263.20 for these shoes. I cannot wear them as they are too loose and give me blisters. I would like to return them and get my money back, or at the very least get a smaller size. I feel cheated, lied to, and I do not even believe that this person took the time to size me properly. Considering this is an orthopedic shoe company and these are expensive shoes -she should have.
