I have been arguing with the bank for the past 2 days to no avail. I checked my balance and there was an unavailable funds fee charged to my account, but the catch is that there were plenty of funds in there. I went to the bank on a Saturday and deposited a check and cash together as cash and was told the money would be available in my account right away. I, then decided that Sunday that I would charge my wedding dress since I had just made the deposit. Everything was fine until I went into work and checked my balance on Wednesday. I noticed the unavailable funds fee of $35 and called the bank because I know the funds were available or else I wouldn't have made the charges. I spoke with customer service, who said that I needed to speak with my branch. I was transferred to the branch where I opened the account and was left on hold for approximately five minutes and when I finally was speaking to someone, I told them I had a question about my account. The person then sighed and pretty much made me feel like an inconvenience because she had to look at my account to help me. She then told me that the charge for my wedding dress was for more than I had in the account and when I told her that a deposit was made, she said that anything done after 3pm credits the next business day and I told her that I made the deposit at 1pm and she started to strutter and tell me that it was actually anything done on after Friday at 6pm would not show up in my account until Monday. Then I told her that the charges and deposits should have shown up at the same time and would have evened everything out and she claimed it did not work that way because debits were taken before credits. I said fine, what about my deposit of cash and she said that I only deposited a check. I told her that there was a check, but I also deposited cash, and the cash would have covered my charges made on Sunday. She then said "well, I don't have time to go back and forth and argue with you". I said fine, I would like to speak with a supervisor and she said they had an assistant manager and I ok. She said the assistant manager was unavailable, so I asked when would they be available. She then proceeded to just repeat that they were unavailable and when I asked for a manager was told there was no manager on. I then asked to speak to someone above her and she said "Is there anything else I can do for you? Thank you" and ended the conversation. I was extremely upset because the bank charged me $35 for no reason. I then wrote an e-mail to the bank and got a response of the online payment I made on Monday (when the full amount of the deposit should have cleared), was the unavailable funds that I was charged for. I was told by the woman on the phone that the funds were "there", but they weren't really there", which made absolutely no sense. They then said that they cannot credit my account because they've already done a "courtesy credit" once, but that instance was also an error on the bank. I do not believe it is a "courtesy" when it is not your mistake, but the bank's. The e-mail written back to me also did not acknowledge the fact that I asked for a supervisor many times and was denied. The service I received was rude and I was not aware that the bank could with hold cash from you for two days because you decide to deposit it and not carry it around with you. If I had known they were going to hold my money from me, I would have just cashed the check and taken all of the cash and bought my wedding dress with that instead of going through this headache for my money back. I know it is only $35, but it is my $35 that can help pay my bills or a small cost of my wedding. What infuriates me even more is that they claim to be a friendly customer oriented bank, then why was I treated so rudely and bounced around so many times?!?!
Beware!
