The International Organisation for Animal Protection - OIPA in India has issued notice to Bollywood movie Love U...Mr Kalakaar starring Tusshar Kapoor, as the production house allegedly used paint brushes made of rare mongoose body parts or skin during the shooting of the movie. The movie is slated to release on Friday and these alleged brushes have been prominently displayed on pre-release posters and promos.
Animal Welfare Board of India Master Trainer Naresh Kadyan in his notice told that, "Mongoose (a wild animal) is listed as a protected species and its killing or hunting is prohibited under the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 and the provisions of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960."
He asked to restrain the release of the movie, as its producers have flouted various sections in Wildlife Act.
Naresh Kadyan said the release of the movie would prejudice the minds of the people who will watch the said movie and it shall cause grave injury and affect the psychology of the movie watchers in general.
He contended that promos and trailers of the said movie have been shown with Tusshar Kapoor holding the paint brushes made from mongoose hair.
“The movie would be released all over India and if the movie is not restrained from being exhibited to the ultimate watchers, grave injury shall be caused to the society as a whole, " said Abhishek Kadyan, Media Adviser to the United Nations affiliated Italy based OIPA chapter in India.
Naresh Kadyan in his complaint said he noticed massive pre-release posters of the movie at city theaters which prominently showed Tusshar Kapoor holding these brushes, the mongoose was upgraded to Part II of Schedule II of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. The penalty entails minimum one year imprisonment (up to a maximum of seven years) and a fine of Rs 5, 000.
The OIPA in India moved complaint with the local Police Station to ban the movie and the Producer and Director of the said movie be booked for the violation of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
