On August 15, 2010 I bought a computer from this place at a Liquidation Sale in Roanoke Va. The saleman told me it was a new computer with a 5 year warranty through Gateway. He showed me where it had a dual core processor and 64 bit operating system. Well I got the computer home and it has a VIA C7-D processor 1800 MHz 1.60 GHz 32-bit operating system. Then I emailed Gateway to check on the warranty and guess what? No 5 year warranty, the computer was sold to a company called Renovate that only sales refurbished computers. I then emailed that company which told me that there was only a 90 warranty and they were very upset that Compu-Electronics were selling their computers and 'new'.
I then called Compu-Electronics for 2 days trying to get my money back. I finally talked to a 'staff member' Kevin and he was one of the rudest obnoxious people I have ever talked to. He would not let me talk, he talked over me and would not listen to anything I had to say. He said they would take the computer back but would charge me a 40% restocking fee. He said I signed the receipt excepting the computer. I told him that what I signed for was not what I got and that was fraud. So now I have filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. Come to find out there have been 60 complaints filed against this company in the past 36 months.
