Auto Loan
I have had my car financed through CPS since Feb. 2005. Since then, I have been harassed by their collectors. My family and friends have been harassed by their collectors as well. The company's collectors have violated FDCPA laws by giving out my account information and unlawfully collecting. I received a voicemail on 12-28-09 from a representative by the name of Jay (I still have the voicemail) stating that she has a check payment holding my account and I did not call in to authorize it. I immediately called her back and told her I never gave a check payment to hold my account until 12-25-09. She asked why I was late I told her, and I told her I would call in on 12-31-09 with an arrangement if I could not come up with the payment. I go to withdraw funds today and find that CPS took an unauthorized payment out of my checking account using my debit card visa number not a check. I did not give them authorization to take a check payment or a debit payment out of my account, let alone give them my debit visa card number. I contacted my attorney to obtain my options to sue.

Harassment and threats
CPS is very rude with me whenever I deal with them. I was out of work for two months, out on family medical leave without pay. I asked them to defer the month of april's payment of $313.00, only missed one month payment. I have been called rude, stupid and bitchy by several of the there reps. They are now charging me late fees of almost $18.00 a month on top of another $10.00 fee to either postdate a check or pay by debit card and told me I had to pay this way, even though I said I'm mailing the check that day, which I have a 10 day grace period. My payment due date is on the 12th of the month and I was going to mail it on the 17th this past month and according to them it's already late and your charging me late fees on top of it and won't wave the late fees so I can send them an extra $25.00 a month until the april $313.00 payment is paid off. They even had the nerve to ask me to borrow the money from someone to pay off the april payment. They call me, even text my cell phone and even email me demanding me to call them about my car. The loan I have this car with was also purchased from Autotorium dealership who got me the loan from CPS. (How ironic) Is everyone aware that all the autotorium dealerships are out of business, shortly after I got the car the salesperson no longer worked there, that particular Autotorium, Plaistow, N.H. was shut down, went out of business and CPS also went banrupt. This is absolutely appauling. People do not deserve to be treated like this or ripped off like this. I really hope that some lawyer will help all of us with a class action lawsuit against both companies, I am all done with CPS. This is wrong. I was so, so sick in the months of april and may and they were calling me with absolutely no empathy, compassion, just plain cold asking me and demanding my payment. They have also consistantly threatned to repo my car all because i'm one month late. As far as I'm concerned come and get it, it's the principal of the matter at this point. It's causing way to much stress for me which I don't need because of a disability I have and both CPS and Autotorium know I have a disability, They've know it from day one because part of my income is SSDI which they have on file. How dare you do this to anyone and even worse to someone with a disability. This is so wrong. Someone please help us all.

Abusive Collection Practices
When I signed paperwork I signed as a co-signer. They say I am the buyer. On one occassion a representative screams in my ear and hangs up on me. On 12/10/08 they called my house 3 times. Left a message that I have until noon the next day to make a payment. Then they call my landlord and tell my landlord that they better get to the house because the police are going to come and kick in my door. State a few other things and hang up on my landlord. They then call my mother and tell her that Division of Family Services has been contacted to come pick up my children cause I am going to jail. Again they hang up on her. They then call a co-worker and tell her that she needs to pick me up for work the next day because they are going to take my truck.

This company breaks the Illinois law in every way. By reading this Complaint Board sounds to me like they have gotten away with thier bad collection practices for too long. I have contacted the Illinois Attorney General Offices as well as the US Attorney Generals office. I am prepared to let my Attorney take over this matter. Please email me at [email protected] if you are willing to submit a report against them to assist in my lawsuit. TOGETHER WE CAN SHUT CPS DOWN.

Bad auto loan

I purchased a 2006 Dodge Truck in late 2006 from a Missouri dealership. I was put at 18% interest with a $530 payment. My finance company is CPS. I was told to come back in 6 months to refinance my vehicle which i have recently done. I am still awaiting an answer. I am running short between pay periods this month and i paid half now and the other half is coming in a week. I am 15 days late from my original payment and they have called me to say i was on the repo list. I thought 90 days was typical on a repo not 15. My wife and i have both talked to these people and they are very rude. I need some help to get away from this company!!! I am getting ready to go fight for my country again and i dont have time to be harassed by some company who makes a killing off of my payments on interest anyway and i am making an effort to pay them before the next pay period. I guess if all else fails i have the soldiers and sailors civil relief act. Please send advice!
