Continental Finance Reviews

SCAM!!!
I am filing a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against Continental Finance Credit Cards.
I double paid my bill in October because they said that they had not recieved the payment (which had already posted to my bank account).
I faxed the bank statement and was told that the charges would be reversed and my payment would be applied. Now they are saying that they have no notes on this subject so "too bad".
I have NEVER been late on my bill.
This company is THE BIGGEST SCAM EVER!!!
I am now paying the card in full and washing my hands of the entire matter.

Rediculous CS & Fraud
I applied for this card to establish credit. Even though they had these rediculous fees I was willing to start somewhere.

I call the number to activate the card and spoke with the CS rep. She immediately asked me for my banking information to my checking account so they can "go ahead and start reporting my credit to the credit bureau". Whatever! I told her I dont think so. I told her if I couldnt mail in my payment on the due date I dont want the card. She put me on hold and after two minutes she hung up on me. Never in my life have I ever been treated so poorly. I call the CS # on the bill and you cant speak with no one. I called the activation line back and took the option to cancel the card.

Right when you think you heard it all there is always something else out there to suprise you.

Shameless, unapologetic thievery
Did anybody see the "Frontline" program on PBS last month entitled "Poverty, Inc."? This card is what these shameless exploiters of the poor cheerfully call a "fee-gathering" credit card. "Fee-pigging" or "fee-hogging" would be a more appropriate term for the card these porcine criminal predators issue...

There is the $200 "processing fee, " the $50 "annual" fee, the $12 monthly "maintenance" fee and perhaps most infuriating of all, the $4 "internet payment" fee or $10 "pay-by-phone" fee. You pay $4 for the privilege of paying your bill instantly and doing their work for them.

What is the only way you can pay your bill without charge? By sending them a check in the mail. That's right - the slowest, least reliable method, the one that has the highest probability of being late or lost, the one they can hold for up to SEVEN days after receipt - that's the one that's free. Because that's the method most likely to "gather" their usurious, larcenous "Late Payment Fee" ($35) or "Over Limit" Fee ($35).

Don't believe their pious, laughable laughable nonsense about "helping consumers rebuild their credit." They are doing you NO FAVORS. What else do you call paying $435 a year for being able to charge $180 in goods and services? You can't even use this card to "pay at the pump" because all debit cards have to be approved for $300 BEFORE you pump. If you pay your bill online and on time every month your credit limit will ALWAYS be $296 because of their "internet payment fee."

Last but not least, there is their "every six month $100 credit increase" if you pay your bill on time every month. This so-called "consumer benefit" is automatic - you have the option to "opt out" of this and I would very much advise that you do so. Why? You guessed it - every time, your "$100" credit increase is just $75 - after their $25 "credit line increase" fee.

Yes, at other banks a credit line increase is something you can earn by doing the responsible thing and demonstrating your trustworthiness over time. With the greedy jackals at Continental Finance, it's just yet another way of sucking you dry and making you more likely to become one of their "Golden" 24.75% interest rate "Penalty Pricing" chumps - er, "customers."

Make no mistake, folks - the only thing "Gold" about this card is the amount of it these vile robber-barons make off the backs of the working poor who are unfortunate enough to have both bad credit and bad judgement.

If you are trying to repair your credit history and don't mind being raped by one outrageous fee after another in order to carry a worthless card with a laughable, useless credit limit, then this is the card for you.

Otherwise, stay the hell away.

Terrible experience
This Continental Finance credit card company is a joke. I had applied for this card online and as soon as I got the card someone from continental finance called me and wanted me to pay 50.00 over the phone. They kept insisting I pay the amount. By the time I even got the card, there was almost 200.00 in fees. The customer service people there are very rude, do not be late with a payment because the fees are outrageous!!! They will call constantly every single day!!! Do Not Get This Card. they are a rip off. I wish I would have know about this card before I got it!

scam
From the day I received this card, I have received collection calls every two hours! I have never missed a payment, always pay on time. Two days after I activiated the card, they reported me as 90 days past due on my credit reports. I have auto-debit set up and they charge me $4 for each payment. They finally reversed the $240 in late fees I was charged. I have never seen such poor business practices! My car is now paid off (except for the service fee I'm charged every month) and I still receive collection calls every two hours starting at 7:00 am until 10:00 pm every single day!

Harrassment
I am having a time with Continental Finance as well. I got the card in order to help rebuild my poor credit ... I should have known better. I agreed with the terms of the service - I did think that the $250 in upfront charges was steep (actually it's ridiculous) - I have had the card for a year and have not once made a DENT in the money that I owe - despite paying $50 to $100 a month. They consistently ask for a minimum of $100 regardless of how much I have paid. If you make a payment early, it does no good. You still end up with a minimum balance due by set date.
I am having financial problems right now mainly due to my bank ( RBC Centura the worst bank other than Wells Fargo) and I simply had no money to send to Continental Finace last week. They are now calling my house 8 TIMES a DAY.
I had a similar problem a few months ago when I had to make one payment 2 days late. The next day I got 4 calls from them and then at 8 in the morning I get a call from a very rude sales representative demanding that I pay with a check by phone ( to which a $14 service charge is added that they conveniently charge to the card) - I informed her that I had already set up a payment online, and if she had my information on her computer screen she could see that a payment was scheduled. She told me that she did not have access to my information online! And STILL demanded a check by phone!
To make everything worse- they offer NO address to write to demand that they stop harassing me. All you get is a phone number, and then you must deal with someone unwilling to work with you, and usually rude .
This is a horrible company. I plan on trying to save the money to pay the card off, and then tell them exactly what they can do with their card.

Fraud and scam
I received a statement in the mail about owing this company $250.00 DOLLARS and didn't even order a card. I don't have any credit cards and don't want any for that matter my question how can you owe something for something you didn't receive much less order. Please beware of this company.

Rip off
I got continental finance credit card. I went to activate it and the lady asked me if i wanted to make my first payment of 50 dollars, then she said i had a 300 dollar activation charge left me with 70 dollars. Now, when I try to call them, they charge me 40 cents to 4 dollars. A call i turned them into the bbb and I see what happens please no one should get card, this company needs to be shut down my credit is in jepordy over this company. They will not take my debit card over the phone, they want it out of my checking account. What the difference, my debit card is the same as my checking.
