Cooking Club of America Reviews

Unsolicited products
At first I received an invitation to join this club to receive recipes and items from companies to evaluate their products. All you had to do was pay $12.00, try the product, fill out a questionnaire and return it to the company. Then the unsolicited books started coming in the mail. At first I thought perhaps this wasn't so bad but the book was 29.95. I had opened the box and so I just paid it. Then the next month I received another book, stupidly opened it and either had to pay to send it back or keep it. The company sent some crap stuff as a "FREE" gift. Then the offer for a Liftetime membership. I sent a letter to cancel my membership and returned the next book with a cancellation notice. Returned unopened another book and another box of "stuff". I kept getting bills for the lifetime membership--which I never joined--and then forgot about the whole thing. Now, two years later, I got a call from Chase Receivables, to collect over $300.00. Please do not fall into this same trap. They will have to take me to court and prove that I joined their absurd club and I will bring proof and all these complaints and let the court take care of it. PLEASE DO NOT JOIN THIS CLUB!! You will be sorry.

RIP OFF
I never asked for anything from this club, they just sent me an invisitation 3 months ago to join. My huband is a chef and told me he had heard of them and they were a scam. Last month they sent me a letter asking to be paid for a subscription I never asked for. They also had 2ND NOTICE on the outside of the invoice (like the debt had not been paid). We are ready to seek legal action but have no address or telephone yet. I guess the lawyer gets to do his homework. This company is evil!!!

crooked company
Ok, I know there have been numerous complaints about CCoA and I have read them after I had joined. I was still somewhat satisfied with them until today and decided to cancel. If others happen to read this first before joining then it's just something to think about.

Today, August 13th I received an invoice from CCoA to renew my membership now before it expires in November. As I have yet to receive the promised items except the magazine subscription with the membership I did already pay for I decided to contact them not really even bothered but why pay for another membership if I am not given what I was promised. What specifically was promised is much like others have complained. I was promised items to test and I also filled out a $100 grocery voucher. I figured the voucher was nothing more than coupons so I wasnt counting on anything from it but I was told I would get it.

Anyways so when I called the guy that answered the phone told me that the reason I had not received an item to test was it takes 6-9 months to receive and my 9 months is up in October, I pointed out that I joined in November and my account on CCoA even says my membership expires in November. He told me that I did not join until January 8th 2010 and that CCoA's website was wrong. I then told him "Is the bill I received today wrong also because it says my membership expires in November, that is the reason I called" I was then told the bill is wrong. So I asked him about the voucher and he said the voucher is not for people that only have a 1 year membership so I asked why was I sent the voucher then and his response was "you didnt". Ok maybe I should not have received the voucher but I DID thats how I even knew about it, so for him to say I did NOT is wrong.

To cancel, he put me on hold so I pulled up my bank statement online and on Dec12th my $12 payment to CCoA had gone through. When he came back on line, I pointed that out to him and his response was " you did not join until Jan 8th so that must have been to something else by CCoA." So I just canceled why argue.

The membership was only $12 and I have received 8 magazines so I wasnt ripped off BUT...
Why would the website and bill say one thing and the representative say they are wrong>doesnt make me think this company knows what it is doing
Why would they send a voucher for something that I am not eligible for>again makes me think one hand doesnt know what the other is doing
How can I pay for something before I am even a member when the stuff they sell is for members only> that is going by the representative saying it must have been something else for CCoA in Dec however my bank statement does not show anything in Jan-July to CCoA

Never Joined
I was sent an invoice. I returned to sender. I did not open it up.
I have no idea what it is for nor do I wish to. The invoice says
"Do not Bend" I am assuming it is a credit card or something.
I want nothing to do with this company and want my name removed
immediately from their list.
Often when an email comes in and says free, you start to fill out info
until the very end and then they ask you for a credit card at which
time I click out of it immediately. Somehow this company must have
used my address to send me an invoice.
Definately a scam company!

never received products promised
I paid for membership in May. two months have passed and my "free gifts" which were to be sent with full payment were never received. Today I received an offer for a lifetime membership for $350 less the $24 I've already sent them. This is when I realized I've been scamed. I asked them for a full refund, which they claim takes 4-6 weeks. I am concerned I will not receive this given numerous complaints I've read on the internet. I am also concerned they will try and bill me for items I've neither ordered or received, which is apparently what this company does.

charged for someting I have no idea what it is
The Cooking Club of America has charged my ATM Debit Card on June 22, 2010. First, I am lifetime member there should be no other charges. I have always paid them with a check not on my ATM card. The only way they could have gotten this information was from a company they work with called Holsted Jewelers. The Holsted Jewelers credited my account June 8, last month charges for $39.99 that I should not have been charged. They kept the shipping charge from what I returned of $6.99. Ironically, the charge that the Cooking Club of America charged me was $39.99 plus another shipping charge of $6.99 which is the total of $46.98. Holsted Jewelers did send me another package but I returned it without opening it. I want $46.98 cedited to my account. I wish I never had any dealings with either of these companies! But, do understand I will keep doing this until it is made right. No one will charge me for products or services I did not receive. There must be other action I can take!

Free Trial
Today I received a bill from Cooking Club of America for $12.00. I was told this was a free trial period. I was not told anything about a fee of $12.00. On the site I can't find a place to cancel this Club.

Fraudulent company
Cooking Club of America says they will sign you up for a life account, but what you don't know when you sign up is that they keep billing you for life! I have cancelled by mail many times, to no avail. Then I contacted them by return mail (when they emailed me) and there were never any return answers. I don't care if they send me to a credit collector, I will not give them another dime!
They send trinkets along the way, telling you what a great deal it is, but YOU PAY for all of it and more!

I wish the best of luck to all who sign up with this company!
