Cooking Club of America Reviews

April 13, 2008
Thanks to this site, I didn't fall for it!
I received an "invitation" to join this wonderful club, because it was 'well-known that I'm a great cook'. That was my first clue that this is a sham, so I decided to check the internet for complaints and just happened onto this site. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all those out there that took the time to tell of their experiences. I should know by now that anything that sounds too good to be true, isn't!!!

Collection
I signed up for the lifetime membership to Cooking Club of America because my husband liked to cook. I made a couple payments and he got sick last summer and consequently passed away this February. I called to cancel the membership but I keep getting notices from collection agency.
This is ridiculous.

Never/would not update my email address when it was changed so I couldn't get a lot of the 'offerings'
Would not update my email despite repeated requests and therefore I did not receive info and could not participate in the online 'benefits.'

Bad business practices!
Do not buy the magazine subscription through this club! You're just opening a door that you will not be able to close. The magazine is a come-on for them to keep trying to sell this and that worthless thing to you. I have asked repeatedly that they not send me anything--and had tried to cancel my subscription after reviewing the first cooking magazine they sent before the 30 day trial-period expired. I didn't receive another magazine until a year later, when I received an invoice stating they would turn me over to collections if I didn't pay the subscription fee--even though I had canceled the subscription the year before! I paid the fee because I didn't want it to affect my credit adversely. I wrote and asked them not to send me anything else. Today I received some type of stupid figurine without ordering it with a bill for $15.98! I've emailed the company asking them not to send me anything again, and stating I will return the figurine. These people do not listen--stay away from them! It is not an honestly run company.

No response!
I have tried to Cancel, wrote letters and sent back cookbooks at my expense. I received one product to test since 2005 when I joined with Cooking Club of America. I wrote a letter to the company that in their magazine, I was getting blank entry cards to win things. Then without any response from them. I was receiving no cards in their magazine. It was costing me an extra $4.00-$5.00 a package to send back. And returns were supposed to be postage free. In one year I spent over $60.00 in returning cookbooks and other items. I would think that after all this time a company so big, would at least sent my a letter and ask why I've never sent a reply on a test product, if their never received a card from me. They sure know where to send a bill. Or send expense cookbooks that I'll probably send back. All I want is answer WHY. I never received another test product after sending in my card!

Scam and fraud!
A few years ago i signed up to become a member. I received lots of cool things during the initial trial so i decided to pay the $350+ to become a lifetime member because i was told i would get a lot more rewards afterwards. After paying, i received a huge box with the cr*ppiest set of pots and pans I've ever seen. Then nothing. I never heard another word i never received anything. After awhile i had a death in the family so it was no longer on my mind. Recently i tried to log into my account and it would not accept my info. I tried to email them several times to figure out what the problem was and have yet to receive a response. These people are scam artists. they offer the world, take your money and them delete you from the site. I am really thinking about pursuing this legally.

Never ordered and charged anyway
I never signed up to become a member, Never received anything from them, and yet they kept sending me bills for $24.00 membership fee. I attempted to tell them that I did not order by sending the bill with a note saying cancel as I never ordered. This was to no avail. Today I received a collection agency bill from them. I bet it is also on my credit. This is bullying and scamming in the first degree. Next, I am calling the BBB. Any suggestions, I would really like to hear them.

A total scam operation!
This company states that there is a free trial with NO obligation. They send books which have been returned unopened and then send dunning messages stating that payments are past due. A total scam operation!

They will not stop sending unsolicited merchandise
I have read the other complaints about Cooking Club of America and completely agree. They will not respond to written requests to stop sending unsolicited junk. Their phone number is phony. What I would love to know is if anyone has found a way to stop the problem. Advise smb!
