I am a local business owner in Smyrna and I my 2002 F150 to Cooper Lake Automotive because I could not pass my emmissions test this on March 7th. I then dropped it off to have the problem diagnosed. I first get a call that the repairs will be $400 then a they call me back and say it will be $2100.00. I went in to talk with Gary ( manager ) and said how can a car with 200k mikes and a simple Emission issue and a value of $3000.00 / I could buy a new engine for my old F150 for $2100.00! So he states that the "certified mechanic states in my estimate for a Emission code P0174 ( its on the estimate)I need new I bolts a upper manifold and new seals as well as $600 in labor. $2100.00!! So this did not sound correct??? I called Q automotive in Marietta amazing mechanic was reffered to me from a friend. I called him and stated the code issue and number. He says come to my shop i will fix it in 5 minutes its going to be the vacume hose is unplugged ( im like really no way that easy ) Q opens my hood tells me to watch! look your vacume hose has been unplugged..he plugs it in and plugs his computer into the slot and laughs!! YOU ALMOST GOT RIPPED OFF! HE STATES ANY ANY MECHANIC WOULD KNOW THIS CODE READING WAS A POSSIBLE VACUME HOSE DISCONNECT! I CYCLED MY CAR A DAY AND THEN I PASSED NO PROBLEMS AND THE COMPUTER STATED I HAD NO OTHER ENGINE ISSUES!!! HOW MANY PEOPLE HAS THIS HAPENED TOO!! IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME CALL Q AUTOMOTIVE 4048240500 ask him about the roof911 truck with a unplugged vacume hose...I gave him $20.00 and he didnt even want it for the simple fix. THEN I CALLED MR. GARY ( manager)AND TOLD HIM AND HIS MECHANIC CLAY...THEY ARE SO WRONG TO DO THIS TO PEOPLE. THE OWNER NEVER CALLED AND NOBODY CARED! CAN YOU IMAGINE LOSING $2100 for a unplugged hose. BEWARE CONSUMERS. This was not a simple mistake or difference of mechanic opinion...but blatent over charging very close to criminal and management should have had a red flag and tried to figure out why this bill was so high!!
