I went to this place for my acne that I've had all my life.
At first I thought this place was clean, it is located in Irvine and in a good area. I should have thought twice when the consultation doctor. Dr. Yu looked at my skin and immediately wanted me get 10 acne treatments, blue light, Matrix... treatments that probably shouldn't have been performed at the same time. Dr. Yu told me that all my treatments together adds up to $3000, and this is something that I should do soon otherwise my acne scars will become permanent. The other laser treatments were supposed to lighten my scars. I knew that laser would be expensive, but this seemed like my last resort. So I pay the $3000 in full.
After 6 weeks of treatments my acne that was once of medium severity became severe. It is more red and hard and my skin is strangely dry but very shiny as if it is oily. My skin also became paper thin, I'd get breaks in my skin if I dry my face too quickly. I knew things were not right at week 4. Before each of the laser treatment, they'd have me do a "facial". The aesthetician would wipe my face with a semi-wet towel and proceed to pop acne that were not ready to be popped. No aesthetitian that I've gone to has ever tried extraction without cleaning, warming and humidifying the skin. The aesthetitian also had a friend in the same room one time and was talking to her friend without a mask on as she was doing extrations on my face. There is a reason most aesthetitians put on masks, it protects the patient from the saliva and excretions from the person performing the treatment. Her friend was hovering around, talking as well.
The worst part was that when my face didn't get better, the front desk women started telling me that I need to stop eating oily foods and I should stop eating ramen... I was like, what?! First of all, what makes them think I eat enough ramen to cause skin problems? And second, are they saying that my face is not responding to their treatment because I brought this on to myself due to my diet? There were two ladies that were really nice and knowledgeable, but they were only there on specific days. I don't always get them even when I try to schedule on their days. The other aestheticians there were ill trained and have poor hygiene practices.
So by week 6, or I knew that even though laser may work for others, IT DOES NOT WORK FOR ME. It made my skin worse. By that time, the treatments that I received added to about the $3000, which means I still had another half remaining. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Yu and he acknowledged that my skin wasn't getting better. I said that I wanted a refund. He said he'll send it to me. This was in April.
Three months later, that place still owes me my hard earned money. I'm actually going through with a law suit. I reminded them multiple times to send me the refund. Dr. Yu apologizes and promises to send the check to me every time I call. Still nothing. I'm tired of this stress that they're putting me through. Suing them is my last resort.
I still have scars on my face from the skin breaks that I suffered during the treatment.
