I signed up for the Discovery Channel Cosmeo service at the end of March, 2006. They were offering a 30-day "free" trial, and I was homeschooling my son at the time. At the end of the 29th day, I called to cancel because (1) we were done with homeschooling for the year, and (2) we really didn't find it that useful.
I was told at that time that my charge card was already charged for the month, and that I would receive a credit because of the cancellation. I left it at that. May comes around and my card gets charged again. I call one more time...once again I was told that I would receive a credit on my account at the end of the billing cycle. I received nothing.
I called again in June to make sure that my card would not be charged again and to see what had happened to my credit. Guess what? I was told that I didn't call in to cancel in April or May, that there were no records of phone calls until June 17, and that I would receive no credit for the two months I thought had been cancelled. What a crock!
I am surprised and disappointed that the Discovery Channel would run such a lackluster program. The customer service representatives also need a bit of training as well...they need to stop lying to the consumer just to get them to hang up.
As far as I am concerned, they can take the $18 they stole from me and shove it.
