Robert Barras and Jeff McMullen have stolen over half a million dollars from buyers in their two developments on the Pacific coast. There projects were a robbing Peter to pay Paul ponzi type scheme from the very beginning. Promising buyers they were building their home with their money but the reality quickly became they were relying on current sales to scramble and try to finish homes that people had already paid for and Barras and McMullen had squandered the money. As of November 2011, Robert Barras fled the country and is living in Houston Texas amazingly trying to promote sales in what he calls their second phase of their project in Esterillos Oeste. Their main financial backer who originally sold them the land has foreclosed on them and they have nothing to sell. Barras is trying to defraud even more people now trying to sell solar homes in this fictitious new phase of their defunct development. Barras, McMullen and all four of their corporations are currently being sued for more than $500,000 by multiple individuals in seperate law suits. McMullen is still living in Bejuco and is desperately trying to sell a partially finished house in Esterillos that he doesn't even fully own or have the ability to sign a purchase on. It belongs to their original financial backer. It's doubtful Barras will be back in Costa Rica any time soon as he is in Houston dealing with his 5th rehab for alchohal and drug abuse in 5 years. These two are the types that give every gringo a bad name in such a beautiful country as Costa Rica. The country will be much better off when McMullen is gone too. Barras is mentally unbalanced and one of his last actions before fleeing the country was to try and attack one of the owners in the development. Barras was soundly beaten. If these guys have ripped you off, please use every means available to expose these two to prevent them from ripping off more people of their hard earned money.
