“FALSE COMMITMENT BY COUNTRY CLUB INDIA”
It all goes back goes back to June ’09, when I along with my wife had gone to Inox, Camp for a movie & there was a Country Club India (CCI) lucky draw stall which we participated. The next day we received a call from CCI, Cannaught Place Branch office that we were the lucky couple to be selected for a free gift & 7 night tour package. We went at the desired time & saw a huge crowd outside the office & they were all feeling lucky to be selected just like us. Infact CCI had called the whole lot of people who had filled the lucky form at their various stalls around the city. After waiting for about 45 minutes, we were told that we would need to attend a 30 minute presentation before CCI hands over the gift to us. We were okay to this.
In the presentation CCI personnel convinced us to buy a ‘Once in a lifetime’ package of Rs.2.25 lacs which will give us their 30 year membership with Country Vacation card, Country Club card, unlimited access to Country spas & 20, 000 sq.ft. land. We were reluctant to take call immediately, so they agreed to come the next day to our office & offer the package ‘just for us’ & sign the contract, fill the required detail forms & take the payment.
The next day (17/6/2009) the agreement was signed & the entire payment through online bank transfer was made as per the agreement. We were told to wait for 3 months for the cards & access to the facility. We were told that their Pune club is going to start by December, the timing will match & so we were assured that we are enrolling at the right time. We were very happy with our decision & their commitments. We did not know that this was just the beginning to the endless follow-ups which we are entering into.
As the time rolled on, we started enquiring from September ’09 regarding the commitments the company had promised, but all in vain. The strange part about this company is that nobody in the company is authorized to make any decision, so issues remain unsolved. The company personnel are told to note the concerned person contact details & issue but then nobody actually calls you to solve your issue. The Country Helpline no. 1800 103 2525 is such that the voice automated system picks up the call & then the help personnel is always busy on another call, so there would be one in hundred chance that you would be able to speak to someone. After 2-3 months of further follow-up, we were told that the Pune Branch had lost our membership details because of the courier company & hence we would need to send the details again. On getting into the matter crux, we came to know that the Branch had lost the details themselves & not the courier company. This was the first instance I understood that we are in the wrong hands as the company personnel were lying. After following up for 3 more months & resubmitting all the detail forms, we finally got one of the cards committed, the Country Vacation card. On enquiry they told us that the Club card would come in January first week once the club opens. I told them that I traveling to several places on business & would like to get the get the Club card for using in other cities, but they had no answer. As there was no other way, I agreed to wait till January ’10. I am continuously in talk with Ms.Saba, who is looking after Pune division from Hyderabad office, Ms.Sonia, branch incharge, Pune office, Sagar, Card incharge, Pune office, & Chitra Dhoble, Pune office operator. But, no help from any of them. Nobody offers their mobile numbers in any case & are unapproachable on the office phone numbers as none of them have a solution. All used to over-commit & under-deliver with false promises. I warned them that I would be filling FIR in the police and report this kind of negligence to the media, but there was still no response. Day before yesterday, I was told by Mr.Sagar, Card incharge, Pune, that CCI has lost my enrollment details again. This was truly news for me after more than unanswered 20 mails & unlimited phone calls to Hyderabad, Bangalore & Pune offices.
There are many people who are actually enroll to this kind of lucky draws which the company arranges from time to time to make them feel lucky and then trap your hard earned money without giving you anything in hand. Even there are so many attractive advertisements which this company positions on national newspaper front pages to lure customers. I just have one question to clarify: Is this kind of business method fair in this highly professional India, or am I expecting more?

Abhijit
