I have been trying to get a full refund for my experience with C.P.'s Guiding Service through the Better Business Bureau and the New York Attorney General's Office since December 2010.
The Owner or self proclaimed guide is nothing more than transportation in and out of the Adirondack Mountains via the Indian Lake Campgrounds and a short order cook.
Don't believe anything you are told by the owner with respect to the Guiding Service he provides. He dropped me off at the shores of Lewey Lake before sunrise and retrieved me at the same location after sundown. For lunch don't expect anything more than two sandwiches consisting of two slices of bread, one slice of baloney and an apple.
A guide is someone who actually accompanies you into the woods and assists in tracking prey. This is far from what is provided.
The "Farmland" Hunt advertised on numerous websites under dozens of URL's is a complete scam. The Chyle Inn is not where I stayed when I arrived. I and four others were lodged at an old broken down shell of an Amish school house with a bunch of dirty mattresses and yellow stained pillows. The heat was provided from a defective kerosene heater that would either not go on when we attempted to start it or would not shut down with the kill switch when it started choking us with smoke it emitted. Either way the windows were left open so we would not die in our sleep from smoke inhalation... but who could sleep for fear we would die in a house fire.
Before signing on to this trip, the owner promised us all doe tags and after receiving full payment in cash provided none.
The owner has repeatedly provided false information to the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's Office but no fact, evidence or statements from the 4 other guests as he stated he would provide numerous times.
He has received a D rating with the BBB because the case is closed unresolved for lack of any evidence from C.P.'s Guiding Service.
He has provided criticism of my ability although I have been hunting since 1977 (over 30 years) and he has been a "pretend" guide for less than half of that.
If you go to any of the numerous websites you will see the 3 day farmland hunt. Unfortunately there is no 3 day hunt... it is a 5 day hunt for $1, 000.00 and you must pay in cash. That is because even after you realize that you've been scammed there is little to do to get your money back. He will mislead and misrepresent in his rantings in response to any complaints filed against him but never provide any evidence.
Save your money and tell your friends to save theirs. Find a legitimate guiding service.
