On March 27, 2006, I received a call to my cell phone from some telemarketer lady. She told me that I’ve won a vacation for two and a free subscription to 7 magazine of my choice, that all I had to do is to buy one magazine subscription. And she also told me that I have a 7 day trial period and I can cancel it any time after the trial period. So I agree and then her supervisor was on the phone and asked me to confirm that I ordered 9 magazine subscriptions. I told her I only ordered one and she corrected me and said I ordered 9. Anyway I just want to get off the phone because it was business hour. I gave them my credit card number and they charged me $49.92 that day.

Not until April 20th, 2006 did I receive the first magazines in the mail and it was not what I ordered at all. As of Today (May 2, 2006) I have so far received from two magazines (2 Car and Drivers and 3 Rolling Stones) and I have not received any other magazine. So I am frustrated at both the product and service. I called them to ask for a cancellation and a refund. The answer I got was that “in the 60 years they are in business, they never offered any trial period and never offer the cancel any time deal”. In any case, I was told that if I want the subscriptions to be cancelled, I have to pay $99.84 by check and mail it to

So this means I am going to pay $150 for 5 pieces of magazines? That’s almost $30 a piece and it’s absolutely rip off. And where’s my “Won Vacation”? Where is no information about that at all! This is false advertisement to the core! Why do I have to pay two more months to a bogus service in order to cancel it? They even threaten me that if I cancel my payment (reverse credit card charge) they will sue me for $2000 in damage. I believe this business practice is extremely illegal and deserved to be brought to day light. I just did a research on the web and it seems there are hundreds if not thousands of people with similar experience with this company all over the US. I do not understand how this behavior can go unchecked.
