Misrepresentation
Received a phone call from Merchant Referral Solutions (MRS) telling me how much money I could make leasing credit card swiping machines. They promised 6 digit income by end of 2nd year of working from home. I told them I was disabled and couldn't drive, so it had to work that successfully from home. They said it could be done from home, and were really excited about the business. They got me excited because we really need help with our bills. The same day of the call I received another call from MRS saying that they were faxing me some documents that I needed to sign & fax back immediately "so that they could get me started faster". The cost to get into the business was $15, 000.00, which included website, training, and links to my website on other websites. The faxes came and included their agreement and 4 invoices from different agencies. None from MRS. They explained that these invoices were from companies that help them do business in different ways. I received my brochure about a week later (too late for me to exercise my 3 day right to opt out) and they had already taken my money. The pkg included sales tools (of which could not be handed out over the phone and invoices, that I'd already signed, saying to "sign here" and stamped with "paid" and "copy". I refused to sign them. They then got me to their training website. I went through the 1st one and realized it did require driving to be successful. Even offered as many sales tools as I needed. I then called and told them I couldn't do the job, I was misinformed, and I wanted a refund. They told me they done issue refunds and that I had 3 days to quit but didn't exercise that right. We went round and round, and they started getting nastier and nastier. I finally quit calling and filed disputes with my bank and credit cards. They haven't resolved anything yet. They have sent me MRS's response letters and I have filed rebuttals. My bank just debited my acct for the 1st $4000.00 because they said they didn't get my reply. So told me to resend it. I don't know what to do now but contact the DA and a civil atty. If you can offer me any good recourse it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Grace King
