Credit One Bank Reviews

Lost payments!
I had my card stolen over a year ago. I called and canceled it luckily with no fraudulent charges. I then sent in a money order to pay off my remaining $560.00 balance. I then received calls from them saying I needed to pay. I told them I sent in a money order. They said they never received it. They told me to send in the receipt of the money order and they would take of of it. Got calls a few weeks later. Same thing! I told them I sent in the receipt. They again said they never received it! They then said I was being turned over to collections! And there was nothing they could do.

So not i am out $560.00 and am not getting a bad credit rap for THEIR SCREW-UP!

Terrible experience!
They call three or four times a day. I pay what I can when I can. I know I am the one who got into debt. I can not bring my debt down if I keep on getting more fees to a card I canceled. They said they sent the bill to a collection agency. I thought that meant I should not be getting any more extra fees on my bill each month.

Bad business practices!
I requested via phone line a final payoff. That means the TOTAL amount to close the account. No problem right, well as I was talking to them and gave all my bank information the neglected tell me that there was a service fee of $5.95. After I looked at my bank records they did take all the pay off, so I assumed I was finished with this bank. WRONG!!! Earlier this card was lost and I put a freeze on the account so I was trying to pay it off. Little did I know that after I did they would add the $5.95 service fee to the card. I never received a bill stating this. So after it was late 60 days and still no bill I found out while checking my credit that it went up to $36.00. I contacted them immediately and asked to pay whatever it took to completely close it and for them to remove the late off my credit. Guess what no such deal. I am trying to buy my first house and this has caused a huge mess to my credit. I am a veteran and still in the Military with several deployments overseas, and another coming up. For once I would like to be living in a house I own. Thanks Credit One Bank for helping out. Also to Mr Lamb at the Credit section next time try to be more understanding over a petty $5.95.

Terrible service!
This credit card company still refuses to work with clients to resolve their debts. I have written to every regulating body available to me, contacted the company countless times and pay them $17 per month every month on time. Every month I get a bill adding 23.9% interest and a $39 late fee. The balance goes up every month. Nothing can stop it. All of my other debts are going down, on a Consumer Credit Counseling plan. Not Credit One Bank, however.

There is no regulation by the government to stop them. Congressman Levin Dropped the Ball.

CREDIT CARD SCAM-BAD BUSINESS & CUSTOMER SERVICE
I was emailed by CREDIT ONE BANK telling me my credit card payment is past due. Payment due date was was Dec. 10, 2007. I sent a check to them on Nov. 20, 2007 whiched cleared my bank on Nov. 27, 2007. I called customer service and spoke to a representative who made no sense. She told me it will reflect on my account once they receive my payment. I tried to tell her it was already recieved because it had cleared my bank long before the due date. I got no where with her and spoke to a supervisor who is equally as dumb. In the mean time I'm Being charged by CREDIT ONE BANK A $29 LATE FEE AND RISK A NEGATIVE MARK ON MY CREDIT REPORT.

Unable to verify payment!
I have had an account with Credit One Bank for years. They issued a credit card to me soon after I declared Bankruptcy, almost 10 years ago. I have paid my balance in full consistently, never missed a payment, and have never been late with a payment. I have successfully rebuilt my credit. I now have a 730+ fico. Using their card, and other similar cards, in the manner in which they were designed to be used, accelerated the credit rebuilding process.

After having this card for many years, and, after using the same exact checking account and payment process for many years (I use WAMU on line banking to pay all of my bills), I received a letter, stating the following:

"...We are unable to verify your payment of $xxxx.xx. Due to this reason, we have placed a temporary block on your account. In order to re-activate your account, the following documentation is required: A letter from the financial institution, on bank letterhead, that verifies the owner(s) of the checking account name as it appears on the account and the payment received is authorized by the owner(s). This documentation must also include a contact person and their telephone number..."

I was given less than a week to comply with the request, and a warning that, if I did not meet their deadline, my account would be closed and would be listed as "closed by bank" to the 3 credit reporting agencies.

I received this letter AFTER my card was declined when I tried to use it to buy dinner for a very important client. How embarrassing! My on line balance at Creditonebank.com showed ZERO, and my available credit was my full credit line, so there was no indication that I was going to experience a declined credit card.

I went to my bank and requested the letter, and they told me that all letters must originate from their legal department, which takes a few weeks. They further told me that it would be unlikely that their legal department would comply to such a vague request.

Fortunately for me, the bank branch manager knows me, since I'm in there almost every day. He agreed to write up a short letter complying with their request. I faxed it to Credit One Bank, along with a copy of my statement showing the payment originating from my checking account, and a sternly worded letter from me.

I also sent everything in the fax to them via overnight mail.

I called the day after sending the fax and the letter, and I was informed that they had, in fact, received the fax, BUT, it would be an additional seven to 10 business day before the hold was going to be released.

I spoke to a supervisor and reminded him that I have a history with Credit One Bank that shows an excellent pattern of full balance, on time payments. He agreed that my account was in excellent standing. When I asked what had triggered this issue with the bank, he said that it's a fraud prevention mechanism that gets triggered when someone sends in a large payment.

Wait a minute: PAYING MY BALANCE IN FULL MAY BE CONSIDERED FRAUD?

Plus, I almost ALWAYS pay my balance in full, and it's frequently more than the payment that triggered this event. Go figure.

I told him that someone who pays their balance in full, consistently and on time, is being treated like someone who does the exact opposite. He agreed, but was unable to offer any additional help. So my card will be unusable for almost a month, because I pay my balance in full. And, the payment I sent to them, since it originates on-line from my checking account, has already been withdrawn from my available balance. What a ripoff!

Note to Credit One Bank: "I'm sorry you do not make money off me in the form of late payment fees, over limit fees, high interest, and other fees you charge people who do not manage their money well, or, have fallen on hard times. But, if you are going to punish me for playing by YOUR rules, I say, go to hell!"

I have a ton of other credit cards that do not subject me to such criminal-like treatment. I'll use them from now on.

Goodbye, Credit One Bank!

Charges before you activate the card!
I received an invitation for the credit one card. Took them over 10 days from the date they said the card had been mailed. I activated the account by phone. Then I went online to set up the account. I noticed that they had already had sent a bill for charges before the account was even activated. Called the 800 number that they have and they tell me the account is not activated until they say so. Told them that was fine cancel the effective immediately and that I was notifying a lawyer about this. Please do not do business with this company. I am also going to notify the attorney general for the State of Nevada and the BBB about this company.

Poor service!
My card was suspended due to being over the limit. I continued to make my payments and received a letter early October that my account had been reactivated due to making timely payments. Thing is, my card was expired. I called today (11/3) and asked for a new card and was told that my account had expired and I would have to reapply. The cost to reapply is $75. I then asked how the card expired and the rep said 'lack of use'. I asked her how could I use the card if it was expired? She did not have an answer. I told her this was a good scam but I was not interested. What a joke!

Fraudulent late charges
I made an online payment on October 24,2007 and as of 10/31/2007 it had not posted. Although all of my other online payments posted. I calle d the company to find out why it had not posted and supposedly my bank declined the payment. My bank account had PLENTY of money so it was not insufficient funds. I was told to call my bank and ask why it was declined. Also found out the jerks tried to charge me a 29.00 late fee. They agreed to take the late fee off of my balance. This company seems to take advantage of people with not so great credit and rape them for every single penny. I also am pretty angry about their harassing phone calls if ..god for bid, you are one day late on your payment. They call you at home, at work, and also try to get your cell phone number. I will be paying off the balance and canceling the account. Take my advice...DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.... SHADY BLOOD SUCKERS!

Poor service!
Watch out - beware of dealing with these people. They call 10-15 times a day from 3 different phone numbers and never leave a message and they aren't even on the phone when you answer - it's a computer dialer that dials over and over from 8am to 9pm sometimes twice back-to-back in the SAME MINUTE!

If you have cards with these people - pay them off, close the accounts and DON'T LOOK BACK - THEY ARE A NIGHTMARE!
