no service
I bought a Cricket phone 2/12 months ago. The day it arrived i went to activate the phone. It started downloading whatever it is that is needed to
active. And a message popped up that Id need a better signal to activate. I had 1 bar for a signal that immeadiatly turned into an X.
So i jumped in the car drove 6 blocks ang 4 bars...Activated the phone.
Of course on returning home...no signal.
I used my landline and called Cricket, I was told to reset the phone...I did. No signal.
I drove my 6 blocks and reactivated it.
I called back Cricket, told them it was no good...no signal. The wrote up a work order on it for me, I explained i wouldnt be at home i was going to Vegas to see my parents. I was informed it would take a week to send someone to check the tower for signal strenth. Not to worry...Just contact them when i got home and id either get a working phone or a refund.
I did, I was informed my service ticket had been upgraded to Level 2. I was told i needed to go to one of their qualified service centers to get my phone checked, So off i go to wait in line for 45 minutes just to be informed that they coould do nothing for me.
When i asked about a refund he told me i had used over 30 minutes and a refund wasnt possable. Of course i was never informed of this.
Returning home i called back Cricket. Of course im speaking to someone different...Go through to 10 minutes to explain all of this. I was told not to worry...I would be refunded for any lost service but i was stuck with the phone. I was mad. But i was talked into letting their tech people work on it over the next 5 weeks.
Finally i had had enough...Id been billed 2 times for a phone that doesnt work.
I must have called them 20 times to try to get some sort of credit and terminate the service. I was hung up on at least 10 times.
Was transfered to someone who could terminate the service 5 times only to recieve a message that all the representatives were busy...call back later.
At one point i was told i had a whopping $5 credit coming to me...until i was hung up on.
The phone ended up costing me over $250 and hours on the phone
Never never again...save yourself the headaches...good riddence

Stay away
I had a month to month broadband account with Cricket Wireless while on an asignment in Houston, TX. I went into a Cricket store and canceled the account on April 21, 2010. When I checked my bank account on yesterday, I could see that they have charged my account every month since I canceled the account in April. This looks like the same type of scam that eventually got AOL in trouble with the public. Cricket is continuing to charge their customers after they have canceled their month to month service on their accounts. If anyone has a class action lawsuit against them, I would like to join.

Horrid Company
I am TRYING to get my service up and running with Cricket right now. So far it has been 9 days of hell. I call, I'm on hold for at least 20 minutes before reaching a real person, when that person gets on, he or she can barely be understood due the the heavy accent, then they proceed to tell me that I am talking to the wrong department and transfer me to another department where I wait another 10-20 minutes for a human, then the heavly accented person politely tells me it is another department's problem and transfers me again, then the wait, the explaining again what is going on, the blaming on one of the other departments I have already talked to and then the transfer again or told to go into one of the few and far away corporate stores. When I have asked for a supervisor, he is even harder to understand, though polite, and tells me that he cannot do anything for me, but will call me back. No call ever comes. This has been the scenario for 9 day. Hours on the phone getting nowhere. I went into a store and they thought the phone would be working after the porting, but it wasn't. I have been told stories by the phone reps about them not being able to port my old number once a number is already been activated, though they had told me days before that they could not activate and port unless they put a temp number on. I have been told that they had no record of me in their system, though I dished out almost $400 to them and then they wanted me to pay more money so they could set up an account that should have been there. Departments do not communicate nor do the share the same data. The customer service is outrageous. I am without a phone right now. My phone number is in limbo. If I lose it I will be livid. Not that they care. They'll just make me talk to another polite person over in India who will tell me there is nothing they can do and I need to talk to another department.

Failure to Connect Service
I purchased 2 phones from cricket on 4/11/2011. They arrived 4/12/2011. They were never activated. I called every day in an effort to get my service initiated. I was told that the whole network was having issues which should be resolved in 24-48 hrs. When nothing was able to be done in 48 hours, I was told to go to headquarters in OKC, about 40 minutes from my house. I tried to call first to see if they could help me, but their automated system, like 1-800-cricket's customer service, requires that you put in your cricket cell phone number before they can help you. I was never given a phone number. At headquarters, they were friendly, but could not activate the phones unless I paid another $65, and could not send back my phones, Long story short I heard my account was locked, so no changes could be made for another 24 hrs last night. So I have my phones repackaged in the box net to me, and am hoping to get back the money for the phones. I am skeptical that I can get back the $65 for service since they have the audacity to have a "no refund policy". I filed a complaint with the BBB last night, and am seeking websites such as this to try to protect others from Cricket Wireless.

Horrible Customer Service
Crickets customer service has to be the worst off shore Customer Service department in the world. When you are lucky enough to get through to a live person (after several recorded steps) they don't know how to help unless it is in their script. Reboot the phone is their number one answer that never works. Recently they updated their service and shut everyone out from their accounts and making payments. I have been without phone service for 2 days and after paying my bill still no service and of course you can't get through to the customer service since they screwed over so many people. I guess I will switch back to Straight Talk after I use this months service payment up - that is if I ever get credit for it. DON'T USE CRICKET

My number ported to stranger
On 3/16/11 I purchased a Cricket phone & paid $43.54 to have it activated for 1 month. On that same day I requested my number be ported from another provider. It took until 3/29/11 & hundreds of phone calls to get my number ported. When it was ported, it was ported to a complete stranger & her phone was disconnected. She started getting my calls & I had no service. I called Cricket to find out why I had no service. They said nothing to me about this other woman. I found out about her when she called me. She visited the Cricket store & they told her my phone is on her account! I called Cricket to have it removed but they refuse to do it! They tell me that since my phone is assigned to her account that there's nothing I can do about it. Oh & she has to pay the bill! Of course, she's not going to pay my bill, so I'm sure she's going to have MY phone disconnected. The phone that I paid for. I've been told I have to drive 25 miles to the nearest Cricket store to resolve this. It's not my mistake! Tomorrow, I will visit the store, demand my money back & switch BOTH of my phones to another provider. Ryan Maerio, employee ID 635153 told me I could take my business somewhere else. How's that for great customer service? Stay as far away from this company as you can. NOBODY speaks English & nobody understands English.

worst customer service i have ever encountered
I've had Cricket wireless for over a year. At first things were great. Nice phone, unlimited everything (text, talk, internet, etc.) for $50 a month.
Problem is the customer service. It is nearly impossible to get in touch with a live person by phone and when you do they rarely have an answer to your question or are able to help.
I have to say that the horrible customer service trumps the $50 unlimited monthly bill. Would not ever recommend to anyone. There's no point in having a low monthly cost for a phone if the company is going to cut the phone off at their own free will.
Just terrible!

Charged for no service
I tried the Cricket Broadband service. It never worked. After a day of trying on the phone with their IT, I gave up and cancelled the service. They have no ticket number but the indian rep assured me that it was going to be cancelled. Still, they charged me for the month of service when I did not even used the service! I tried to complaint but they have no one you can talk to. The smart Cricket rep cancelled the number but did not give me back the money and when your number is cancelled, you cannot choose to talk to a rep ever in the recording so bottom line, I could not talk to anyone!!! Thiefts and ridiculous phone recordings and ridiculous customer service! No wonder they are going to be bought out!!! They are useless in this industry and need to disappear!!!

No Refund for Five Months
In July 2010, I purchased a phone and 1 months service from Cricket. The phone never arrived. I am disabled so having a functional phone is an imperative. I am a lawyer. When I called to rescind the contract, citing Cricket's non performance, I was told my refund would need one month to process. Despite clearly telling them the service was terminated, they debited my bank account. The phone lines to obtain a refund were always busy so I called at various times to no avail. Letters were written to Cricket, Leap Wireless, its corporate parent, and the PA Attorney
General. I was told to show up at a full service Cricket kiosk, a full two hours from my home. Strangely, they could take my order over the phone but not cancel it. Letters were never acknowledged. They want unredacted bank records which they will never see. It is not a mom and pop operation. They have accountants. This is the worse company I have ever encountered in terms of refund. I am not young.
Presently, I wrote a formal legal letter to the parent co CEO giving them one week. If there is still no response, I will commence law suit. I am preparing the complaint now. When a letter was finally sent ot me, it was extremely juvenile. They are extremely lawless for a publicly traded company. BEWARE. The incident that started this mess is not unsual. Their customer service is the unusual part, even by today's lax standards. MANY HOURS OF MY LIFE HAVE BEEN WASTED ON CRICKET. THERE ARE ALTERANTIVES. DO NOT BUY FROM CRICKET.

Refund Scam
I recently helped a friend who is searching for a job by paying his Cricket bill by phone with my debit card. This occurred on Jan. 20, 2011. They told me that they were having a system upgrade and my payment would not go through and asked me to call back in 1/2 hour to an hour. It took me 3 hours to get back to where they could accept a ONE TIME payment and gave me a confirmation code. They debited my account twice and as of today, February 23, 2011, I have yet to get my other money back. They have denied this since Jan. 26, 2011 when I called them to inquire as to why they took the payment twice. They are still denying it as of yesterday. Today I can't get through to them.
I have faxed them twice on Jan. 26th, with copies of my bank statement showing them the proof and as of yesterday, they told me that the Escalation department had already reviewed the information and they didn't take it twice. I faxed the statement to their refund department at 720-374-9125 (fax only number) twice on Jan. 26th. They still continue to deny it. The only way to speak to someone in the Escalation Department is to contact them via the Legal Department @ 858-882-9301 and ask them to send you to the Escalation Dept. The people in their so called customer service say they don't have a number for the refund department, only email. I am not prejudice, but so you know, this company is mostly backed by a group of people that are Korean and most of the employees in their offices at the 800 number are Korean and it is difficult to get the information you need.
On a side note, I know of a gentleman that was a manager at a local Cricket franchise who sued them for FLSA violations, they fired him after he brought it to their attention that he was not being paid correctly. In his case, not only were they not paying him properly under the FLSA, they also had him working off the clock and were making him pay for any shortages of monies, even if he wasn't in the store when it happened. The local franchise owner did settle, but it is the point that you have to watch everything they do. One of their silent partner's has a bunch of companies that are fake companies. BEWARE OF DEALING with Cricket, they will take advantage of anyone they can and they believe they can get by with it.
I am thinking of filing a class action suit against them for their practice of double billing and refusing to refund monies that they took and they deny they took the money, even when you provide proof of that from you own bank.
They will not give you a number to reach the refund department, the escalation department or any other department. I had to dig to get the number for their legal department. As a former Law Office Manager, I will research until I get what I need, but their site will not give you the numbers. BEWARE!
