So a feral cat gave birth to kittens in our attic, in which some of the kittens were falling into our kitchen ceiling, the fire dept was gracious to help us out. We don't own any pets, so this is new to us. We were referred to Critter Control to see if they would trap the kittens. So Critter Control came out and first sealed up the hole outside on our roof near the attic and then put traps up in the attic. Mamma cat escaped. Since that day, we have been hearing meowing/scratching within the walls.
Then a kitten fell into our garage somehow and was stuck in a 2 inch space between the furnace and the wall. The one that fell into our garage is about 5 weeks old, we were able to get it out. I have been checking everyday and there are no kittens in the traps that Critter Control set. Then we saw one kitten on the roof, so whew, they are alive. I called asking for a refund, they came out again and set traps near the chimney. It was found that the kittens broke through the second screen, which Critter Control stated it was rusty and weak. You would have thought that they would checked this with the first inspection.
I was referred to Critter Control by friends who were customers. Their experience in the past was that the company came out, set traps first to capture the animals and then sealed up all the holes later. I am not sure why this was done backwards? Sealing the first hole without luring them out first just puts the kitttens at further risk, inhumane. For $350, I find it inappropriate to seal the hole first with the kittens trapped inside. (we didn't even know initially how young they were, so trapping them may just deprived them from nursing from their mother).
We ended up contacting a cat rescue group who did wonders in helping us removing the kittens from our attic. The kittens now are doing great and are adoptable, but if too much time would have passed, they wouldn't have been. Critter Control did absolutely nothing but collect our $350, leave traps and then left. Even the traps they left near the chimney, they came by and took them without telling us. I thought we got robbed. You think they would have at least called to notify us, or ask us on how else they can help us retrieve the kittens. When I called to ask for a refund, they stated that they were a business, it costs them to come out and in quotes "those kittens would have gone towards our traps if no one else was messing with it". We are very thankful that we were referred to a cat rescue group, otherwise we would not know what to do, Critter Control did not help. I would not recommend at least this branch to anyone, their practices appear inhumane towards the kittens and unprofressional towards their customers.
