We are opening a new wellness center and needed a new Point-of-Sale System.
This guy contacted us, said his name was Chris, and represented himself to be with Affordable POS and gave us a list of references for that company.
He came in to demonstrate the system which we liked. We went online to check out his company "Affordable POS" and saw numerous testimonials. We called and were told that the company was great and they were very pleased.
As a result we told him we would buy it if he could have the equipment installed by our Grand Opening. He said he could. We also wanted to lease it because we had spent so much on remodeling and set up. He said he could arrange a lease with no problem. He gave us a lease application, got our social security numbers and bank information.
He called us back three days later to say we were approved and that we needed to give him money for the first and last months lease payment as well as a "fee." We provided that check.
He was supposed to show up with the equipment three days before our Grand Opening to install and train us on it. He never showed up and won't return our calls.
We finally called Affordable POS only to find out he is not with them, but they know of him. They told us he has used a variety of names and now is using their name because they have a good reputation.
We are very worried now because he has our personal information including bank account numbers, etc. and our money for the deposit. He is clearly a scam artist and whatever you do, don't do business with him if he contacts you. If you do get contacted by him, call the police.
