Backorder Nightmare
Placed an order for a chair on 9/9 ... On the website said it would be shipped no later than 9/15 ... On 9/24 I called asking where the chair was or a tracking number. Representative Kieran told me item was back ordered until October. I told her to cancel order since I needed the chair prior to October. On monday I received an email informing me that the chair was shipped and was given a tracking number, also in the email was informed that if I refused order a 20% restocking fee would be applied to order.. What in the world?? I cancel the order and suddenly the back ordered chair shows up??? If I had never called would the chair still have been shipped? This company needs to get better control management and customer service. Will NOT order from them again.

Misreprsentation of Product
They mis-represent the quality of their product and return policy. After observing their add and read a discription of their product as being constructed of wood, not press board or "wood like", but as wood. we called and spoke to a sales person whom stated yes the construction is wood and that if we are not satisfied with the product there is a policy that it can be returned due to the simply us not being satisfied with the quality of the product. We placed the order for about $800.00. After about three weeks the furniture, if you can call it that, arrived and we realized what we had purchased. We contacted the company and after dealing with personel advising that the product was as represented, finally spoke with someone who advised that they would E-Mail us the return procedure. Two weeks later after numerous contact with the company someone finally E-Mails the return procedure, which advises us that since we are not happy wuth the product we now must pay not only the return shipping, but the initial shipping, which was advertized as "Free" along with their "Re-Stock Fee". In all if we return the product they will only refund about half of the purchase price, even though the product is still boxed as we received it. Again we contact the company and work our way through the maze of personel only to continue to be told about the return policy. That brings us to attempting to ship the product back via "Fed Ex" whom delivered the product. "Fed Ex" was contacted and advised due to the weight they can't ship it. So in the end we are forced to accept a mis-represented substandard product from "Cymax". I guess this is a hard lesson learned regarding internet companies.

Awful post order follow up
Such an awful store, I wish I had checked some online reviews before placing an order with them.

unlike most stores where you get pretty much an update every day about the order status, with Cymax you'll get to know whats happening with your order only if you prod them by using the contact us link (I used google checkout, and I guess because of that they had to give a response by a certain time frame).

5 days after placing the order, I saw no updates on the status, so I contacted them about the order. Then I receive this repsonse:

"Thank you for your inquiry.


As indicated on the product webpage, from the time of your order, the manufacturer requires 3-5 business days to process and prepare this item for delivery. Tracking information should be automatically emailed to you 24-48 hours after the item has shipped out.


Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any further questions or concerns.


Best Regards.
(Mr./Ms. No Name!)"

I thought there was a long weekend, so leaving the day I ordered and the holidays in the week, let me wait until it is 5 full business days.

Then I sent them a request to cancel the order because I had no more patience for these idiots to deliver the product I ordered.

and then I get this response

"Thank you for shopping with Cymax Stores. As per the voice mail I left we received word from the manufacturer that you item has been discontinued and is not going to be available to ship. We apologize for this inconvenience and will refund you in full.

These idiots of Nth order seem to be some understaffed, unprofessional company with the sole intention of getting the orders. There is no indication of whether the item is in stock or not (nor do they intend to say that until the customer gives the order)

This was the first time I was buyng anything from cymax, I guess this will be the last time too!!

PS: I made a mistake of assuming that google checkout means better service. when you use it, use it thinking it like just another payment option (like Visa, Mastercard etc).

Three weeks and still not received correct order
I ordered a desk and two shelves from Cymax several weeks ago. The day I received my order I donated my old office furniture and began assembling the new. When I got to box two of the desk it was a different color than the other part of the desk and from what I ordered. I called them and they indicated they would send out the replacement order on Monday. Three weeks later I still have no office furniture, get a complete run-around everytime I call. I have contacted my credit card company and am disputing the charges.

This is the worst customer service I have ever received in 39 years. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.

Extremely Late Delivery/Broken Promises/Lack of Customer Service
One of my worst online buying experiences and I've been purchasing online for many years. I ordered
4 stools - 2 differenet types. A partial shipment was made - late. The other stools did not arrive - weeks passed - a couple
of months passed. Email was never answsered. I got incorrect status info from phone call. It was just awful and I never received
an apology. I was finally sent the stools after I had purchased some elsewhere and contacted my credit card company for reimbursement. I would
advise against doing any business with this company.

Never oder again using CYMAX!
I ordered my frined present from Cymax on June 9, 2009. In the suscription, they said "Expected to ship no later than July 15"
Since I need the product on July 18, I ordered it.
But, day passed and it was July 17, and I wan't getting anything from them.

I called them several time, and finally got, and had complained about the situation.
They told me that they need to get a tracking number and get back to me soon.

After week passed I got a call from them that they do not have the product in their stock!
What the hell!!!

I'll NEVER order anything from them again. EVER!

returns & customer service
I ordered a TV stand for a plasma tv and components. There were no dimensions for the distance between the shelves. When the unit arrived the space between shelves was 5.5" and my receiver and center channel and DVR would not fit on either shelf. I called to inquire about returning and got a very rude customer service rep by the name of Josh at extension 350. He was argumentative, rude, and lacking any interpersonal or basic customer service skills. I asked to speak to a Senior Support Specialist who was very polite but failed to get back to me when promised. I caution everyone to be very wary about ordering anything from this company. Restocking fees are 20%, you pay return shipping which means it basically isn't worthwhile to return something. So in essence they have a "NO RETURNS POLICY" even when they are at fault. Check out other sites, which post dimensions and return policies clearly.

Awful Service
I didn't google this company before I ordered, unfortunately...otherwise I wouldn't have ordered from them. I placed an order for a bunk bed for my daughters the beginning of May. When we didn't receive any information on the tracking or whereabouts of the bunk beds (after 2 weeks) we called and asked for some information as to what was happening. The could not find our tracking info or any info for that matter (except our credit card number, of course) and promised to call us back the next day when they figured it out. Surprise, surprise-they never did. So, I called them back again after a few days of nothing. They then told me the exact same thing and when I tried to cancel my order they told me it would take a few days for them to refund the purchase. What a frustrating ordeal!!! Not only was my money taken and no product given, my kids have been sleeping on mattresses on the floor, which isn't that bad, but the room is in disarray and my life is hectic enough. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!!! THERE ARE MANY OTHER STORES ONLINE THAT OFFER JUST AS CHEAP OR CHEAPER PRICES!!! GO THERE, AND HOPEFULLY, WE CAN MAKE THIS COMPANY SEE HOW AWFUL THERE SERVICE IS.

Receiving Damaged Item
I purchased a dresser from Cymax and the dresser arrived at my house damaged. The delivery company Cymax uses could not deliver the item durning hours I am at home, as I work for a living. So, I had to agree to let the delivery company deliver the item while I was not at home and leave it at my door. When I came home and opened the contents, I discovered the item had been severly damaged. I then called Cymax and asked them to come pick up the damaged goods and refund my money or replace the item. Cymax then told me that because I did not sign for it, they could not refund my money or pick up the item unless I paid $175 restocking fee and and a $300+ shipping fee.

Here are there exact words " We would like to assist you by arranging for the necessary replacements to be sent. Regrettably, since the damage was not signed for or noted on the waybill, Cymax is unable to provide replacements free of charge".

People, these guys are unethical and have less then honest buisness practices. They are a Canadian company...which would explain a lot!

I called AMEX and they attempted to contact Cymax to resolve the issue and Cymax never responded to AMEX. As a result, my card was credited back.

My advise to you is to contact your CC company as soon as you think you are being scammed and have them charge back the amount.

Wrong Item, Called me a LIAR
I have ordered file cabinets from them before and have had few problems. This time they sent me the wrong cabinet. When I placed the order the sales lady told me to refuse shipment is something is wrong with it. That's what I did. When I called them to let them know they said that no one would ever tell me that. In essence they were calling me a liar. Then they said that they would not refund the shipping and I would have to pay a restocking fee. I just called the delivery driver and had him bring it back. They were completely unwilling to work with me to get the right file cabinet. I will NEVER by anything from them again!
