On Friday 10/06/2011 we checked in in Damrak inn Hotel situated in Damrak 58â€59, 1012LL AMSTERDAM for 2 nights. We had 2 reservations, one through a web page agency and the second directly through the hotel.
The accommodation conditions were unacceptable. A window could not be shut down and it kept widely open letting in street noise, cold wind and mosquitos . The solution from the hotel was to stick a map paper. (Attached picture).
The beds were military old fashion bunk beds. One of the beds had no proper mattress and it was replaced by a thin and uncomfortable type of mat unsuitable for adults. Another mattress had disgusting blood stains. (please observe the attached photos)
After seeing all these unhealthy and subhuman conditions we decided to talk to reception. Our main surprise was the receptionists lack of kindness and she told us that we could leave the hotel but she would fully charge all the accommodation period we had booked. After such scene we demanded customer complaint form which she refused to hand us.
On our last day we asked a second receptionist a couple of sheet of papers so we could print
out our boarding cards. Our surprise was that they gave us paper with other customer
personal details including bank account numbers with the CVC code and expiring date. This is a crime we want to denounce. Obviously we had to cancel our credit cards.
We reclaim the total refund of the hotel charges for two nights which correspond to the
unacceptable 4 persons room. (Total = 588 €).
