I am a former business associate of Dan's and he invited me to his office to discuss a "deal" he had for me and my partner. His "business partner" Marc Sessions Jensen is a convicted felon on probation for bank fraud (Google name for details). His plush office in Newport Beach was quite impressive, filled with what Dan claimed was millions of dollars worth of art. He explained that he and his partner were a hard money lenders (for which Marc is on probation) and they were funding numerous distressed real estate acquisitions at bargain prices from banks eager to unload their non-performing assets. He showed us documentation of a deal he was "working on" and explained that he knew of a number of deals that were available through his bank connections and that he would not only spoon feed us some deals, he and Marc would fund 100% of the cost of their acquisitions. There was just one little glitch...he needed a personal loan of $200, 000 so he could retrieve his $1.3M worth of jewelry from a jeweler in Beverly Hills who was holding all his jewelry as collateral for a $200, 000 advance he had received. His "plan" was to fly to New York with the jewelry and turn it over to another jeweler who he said had already agreed to give him $400, 000 for it. He would then pay us back within 1 week. The stupidist thing I've ever done in my life was to trust Dan and loan him the money. It's been 9 months since then and Dan has not done ANYTHING he promised to do and has gone to great lengths to avoid paying us back. I've since discovered that he was hopelessly broke when I loaned him the money and that he has swindled millions of dollars from business and personal associates. Whatever you do, DO NOT LOAN DAN ANY MONEY OR DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CROOK! He should be in jail, but he's not.
