DASCH INC. Reviews

you February 22, 2010
Wrongfully Fired.
On February 17th 2010, I received a letter from Dasch inc. stating that my employment would be terminated as of February 23 2010. After I read the letter that was sent by courier I saw there was no reason stated so I called the head office of Dasch to ask why my position had been terminated, There was no answer so I left a message with my name number and concern. The next day I still had not gotten a call back to let me know why my position was terminated. This continued for the next 3 days as I called and left messages everyday, until someone returned my call, and no one did. On the third day I called again and I finally got an answer, I spoke with Mirna torres Human resources consultant (whom I had been calling for those 3 days) and she told me that my position was terminated for a number of reason, which she would not discuss over the phone and would set up a meeting at Jen Wilson (my house manager’s) greatest convenience. As you can understand I was pretty upset, But accepted the invitation to the meeting so that I can defend myself, as I truly believe I was fired for no good reason at all. I was once Jen Wilson’s (House manager) “favorite employee” as I was enduring lots of situations that I should not have had to deal with or do. Such as not getting all of my training in time due to an incident with one of the residents that resulted in him being taken to the phsyc ward at HSC on my first training shift, so I was sent home as they had to deal with police matters and getting the client there safe and sound. After that my training days kept getting pushed back, and I would be offered them here and there but some days were conflicting with my shifts at another group home that I was hired onto, so Jen Wilson basically cut my own losses and decided that I needed only one more training shift so we made that for Feb 24th 2010 in which I agreed to. I knew that I would not be able to go for that shift as it was redundant to my terminated employment date, but I did have two shifts left before the 23rd arrived (termination deadline) which were Saturday Feb 20th and Sunday Feb 21st 2010. When I got to 102 Manley (house of employment) at ten minutes to 9am (as my shift was from 9a-5p) I entered the office and one of my former co-workers (Zymunt Galazka) looked surprised to see me. Surprised at his reaction I was apprehensive to look at the schedule but did anyway, to see my two last shifts ‘whited out’ (this is what Jen Wilson does when she cancel’s shifts or trades them) So I had to take a taxi home as my bus wasn’t coming for another hour, I did not want to stay where I was not welcomed. My taxi in total was $21.00 and I do have a receipt for that ride she cost me, as she failed to mention that she was giving my shifts away without my permission as I was entitled to work all of my remaining shifts until my date of termination. Not to mention my time and money spent to get to 102 manley unaware that I would be having to leave right away, I did not aquire a receipt.

All of the communication with my manager was done through text message as she informed me that “she hates to talk on the phone” I found that very unprofessional, especially when we would set shifts for training or working and I would have to confirm more than once because she would forget to document or to schedule the right dates. I have done nothing but contribute as best I can to my primary home that I worked in. I donated dishes when I saw the residents were getting low on them due to violent incidents with the residents. I did all of my house managers paper work filing (which was not my job, was Jen Wilson’s) and I was not supposed to be handling the documents, as I was recently informed. I also took initiative to work days when I was not supposed to be left with one of the residents (there is a rule that he is not to be left with female staff alone as he attacks them) and Jen Wilson would schedule two females on myself as well as Samantha whaley. We were scheduled to work together for about a month every Sunday evening. It was frightening as neither one of us were trained in NVCI (non violent crisis intervention) so when we were encountered with the residents bad behavior; Attacking, Hair pulling, smacking, scratching, punching, biting etc. We were unable to defend ourselves. Until we finally went for our NVCI training, which was Feb 16th and 17th of 2010. (where Jen Wilson was sending me odd text messages) asking who my trainers were and that she was cancelling the rest of my training. Only when I returned home and received the courier letter of employment termination, did I realize why she was sending me malicious text messages. I believe that after voicing my concern to co-workers of my own health and safety with being left alone with a client that was not to be left alone with females, I was fired. What am I to do? I have contacted the labour board, Employment standards, Human rights, and health and safety.. The only one that has filed a claim is health and safety. but where does this go, since i AM NO LONGER AN EMPLOYEE? IF ANYONE KNOWS how to help me, please contact me at [email protected]
