Days Inn Reviews

Gave away my reserved room
I reserved a room at Days Inn Inner Harbour, Baltimore, MA. The reservation was made in March, 2008, online for 3 nights in mid-June. I confirmed in early June.

I e-mailed the address on their web site about a week ahead to alert them that I had a late flight and would be arriving after midnight. The reply e-mail said I needed call the day of arrival. Although I thought that the e-mail *should* have been enough notice, I called before boarding my flight to let them know I would arrive between midnight and 1am. They said "OK."

When I arrived at Days Inn, an angry-looking man was being escorted to a taxi by the desk agent. When he returned to the desk, the agent told me "I have some good news and some bad news: The good news is that you won't have to pay for your room tonight. The bad news is that it isn't here."

I told him that there was no good news: I wasn't paying for my room anyway - I was on the job for the state of Georgia. I was being sent to the Mt Vernon Inn, "about six blocks north" (more like 8) and that I could come back to the Days Inn the next day. I complained that the Mt Vernon Inn was considerably further from my conference location - he gave me a total of $15 for taxi fare. I was also given a letter to give to Mt Vernon and was escorted out to a waiting rattle-trap taxi.

While the Mt Vernon was older and not as nice as the Days Inn, I decided to stay and negotiated to get the room for all three nights for the same rate that Days Inn paid for the first night ($99 vs $155 market or $122 govt employee rate).

The extra walking was a bit of a hassle (esp the last day w/luggage) and the neighbourhood a bit "more interesting" - the REAL problem is being booted out of my room so late at night and having to present at the conference the next day.

Shortly after cancelling my room via phone, I did stop by the Days Inn. The front desk manager was very apologetic and said they felt bad about it. I was NEVER given an explanation of what happened. I do know that a national extreme sports competition was in town that weekend, so I'm certain that I just lost out to the highest bidder.

Double charges
Stayed at Days Inn at Ogelthorpe mall, Savannah, GA. I paid for my room up front on the internet when I scheduled and had to pay again the next morning when I left. The mgr said that the original payments was just to hold the room and wouldn't be charged, but they lied.

Don't stay there
We stayed at the Days in Williamstown, West Virginia. Had scheduled for two nights had it changed to three. Arrived and they claimed we had not added the additional night. We had a copy of the e-mail confirmation.

1st night we went to our room, lights in bathroom so low you could hardly see. Called desk and asked for brighter bulbs...we were told, brighter bulbs would make the bathroom too hot!! We stayed.

2nd night, we came in, my husband took a shower, turned down the comforter on bed to rest. Guess what? A cockroach. My husband caught it and took it to the manager "Mac" - non American. He insinuated we brought it in through our luggage.

No rooms in town available due to a Rally and Graduation so we had to stay. Next night we heard that one of our Goldwingers had a motorcycle accident and called to cancel their room. The young girl at the desk cancelled it and the so-called manager ripped her apart. Informed her they had to be cancelled by June 5th no matter what. No cancellations for anyone. Now, do you believe these people wanted to have a motorcycle accident? I believe they would rather pay for a room.

Would not stay at this hotel - or any Days Inn Again as the Manager at this one showed no compassion for anything or anyone.

Bad business
My wife and i and are 10 month old son went to days inn in claremore ok. We arrived at 9:00 pm rented one of the last rooms they had it was a none smoking room and one none smoking sweet i asked her if she would discount it and she said no so we left without counseling are room and went to another motel all the other motels where booked and we never into are room so we rented the room. We then left to go eat and see are family we then come back at 12:00 am. Another servant was in there and so i asked her if there was anything that she could do mind you i already payed for the room in cash, they said i can put you into a sweet but i need a credit card so if you cause any damages they can charge you for it i said ok thats fine we ARRIVE HOME A FEW DAYS LATER AND THEY CHARGED ME AGAIN FOR THE SWEET. I call them and ask them why i was charged and they said because i stayed in the sweet my son is allergic to smoke and all they are worried is getting there money and tell me that i cannot get my money back because thats not there policy and not there problem that my son is allergic to smoke. They have surveillance with a video recording that they told me that they have and then i asked if they would let me see and hear the recording they said that its over and that its none of my business to see or hear that recording.

Garbage
I stayed in the Days Inn Niagara on Centre street May 9th 2008. When I got to the room I found trash left behind from the previous guest. I reported this to the front desk, their response was"they will speak to house keeping". Im sorry but that is not good enough!!! This was my birthday, also driving 2hours to find thrash in my room!!! I would like a refund or discount on another stay!!!

Fraud and scam!
Beware of Days Inns. I booked a room for a week in Birmingham Alabama for a business trip and a week before my stay, the company I work for changed my travel plans and were sending me to another city. I called Days Inn to cancel my reservation a week in advance and was told I couldn't cancel my reservation and I would be charged for the room whether I stayed there or not. I said "excuse me? I am canceling this reservation a week in advance.. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and I have NEVER encountered this before!"

To make a long story short, I have talked to trip rewards. Days Inn Customer Service and been tossed around from place to place like a cat toy and they are still charging me for a room for a week that I will not be staying in. I have learned since that this is a common practice for Days Inn, This has got to be illegal.

Beware... Avoid Days Inn's at all costs... they are a horrible choice for business travelers!

Flithy conditions, grumpy employees
On January 4, 2008 my family and I found the following to be appalling in room 316 and 301 at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport/Cruise port Days Inn.

1. The room smelled of cigarette smoke despite the prominent “No Smoking” signs.
2. There were burn marks on the blankets.
3. The furniture was stained and the upholstery was worn and coming loose.
4. The microwave was grungy.
5. The light switch was loose and often nonfunctioning.
6. One of the lights did not have a bulb and the socket for the bulb and other associated hardware was exposed (fire and safety hazard).
7. The sink did not drain. Hand washing was conducted at the bathtub faucet.
8. The bathtub was ill maintained and dirty.
9. The chain lock on the door was missing.
10. The face of the door to the bedside table drawer came off when trying to open the drawer.
11. The mattress and box spring were in tatters and falling apart.
12. Walls were crumbling and no attempt was made to clean the mess.
13. Plumbing was being held together with packaging tape.
14. The carpet was pulled up from the floor presenting a tripping problem.
15. On retiring, there were bugs under the pillow. Those insects were not present on initial inspection of the room and no food was consumed in the room to attract the bugs.
16. There were stains on the sheets that appeared to have been caused by bodily fluids.
17. The bathroom fan did not work.
18. No extra blankets were available in the room or throughout the hotel.

Additionally I have the following complaints about room 301:

1. The room smelled of cigarette smoke, even though it was advertised as a no smoking room.
2. The microwave was dirty and rusty.
3. The furniture was ill-maintained
4. The 3 pronged coffee maker cord was plugged into a 2 prong extension cord.
5. The television speakers vibrated and made other odd noises.
6. The carpet was dirty and burnt by an iron.
7. The wait for the Hotel Shuttle at the airport was unacceptably long - almost 2 hours.

This is not the quality of room expected when paying from $150 to $180.20 a night per room.

The only action taken by the General Manager at the Day's Inn was to refund the double charges that his staff had made to our credit card - both rooms. This was after multiple phone calls that my travel consultant made to him the week of our return from vacation.

Wrongful termination, wages
The manager of the Days Inn in Elizabeth City, Yashi, fired me after my vehicle broke down after I picked up many extra shifts for her and was asked to stay at the hotel in case she needed me. I gave six hours notice about not being able to come in and the women who was to cover my shift drove drunk and the police followed her to days inn and gave her a ticket and I was blamed for that. She has had problems with this persons drinking before. Guests have even complained about it. I told her that my vehicle was still not running, she then said that she was going to put me on a leave of absense, but instead fired me. I know of at least two employees that were continuosly out due to vehicle problems and the both of them are still employed. I know of employees who did not call or show up that are still employed by Yashi. she constantly slanders my name to other employees and tells flat out lies about everyone which constantly causes problems. My identical twin sister is currently the head housekeeper, but in order to keep from having to give her a raise Yashi put herself down as head housekeeper to Days Inn Corp. My sister washes the laundry, cleans rooms, inspects rooms, and is responsible when the other housekeepers don't due thier jobs properly. Even though she has head housekeeper responsibilities, she only gets paid the same amount as the regular housekeepers. I know for a fact that Yashi is pocketing Days Inn profits. She has asked me and other front desk clerks to put one of the cash paying customers folios and money into an envelope and slide it under the door to the apartment that is attached to the front office. We are told not to put them into the computer, I have seen her pocket this money on numerous occassions. I have worked overtime for her countless times. She does not report overtime to Days Inn, and does not pay the proper overtime wages which is time and a half. Instead she will pay regular wages from her pocket. I have witnesses to back up everything I have stated in my complaint. Something needs to be done about her she is very childish, and has admitted to favoritism several times. Currently she still runs off at the mouth about things regarding my personal life. She is very unprofessional, and I will continue to do what I have to do to put a stop this.

Terrible everything!
Sam, the gm lied to us about having a pet (which was against the rules) and he took money for it. He also when approached gave us a false name and said the manager was not available. He put us (and everyone we spoke to) on the third floor. When asked why, he said the rooms were booked, which was not the case. I called the complaint # and spoke to two different people, getting a case # 2150826. I have not heard from them. The night was thursday Feb 21st.

Terrible service!
Put my do not disturb sign out went to breakfast came back before checkout and found the maid setting at my living room table eating her meal. Asked her what she was doing in my room she spoke no English but grabbed her stuff and left. Went to the manager he said he was sorry. This is not right I never want to stay in another days inn.
