FRAUDLENT CHARGES
I ORDERED 'TOTAL MONEY MAKEOVER' BY DAVE RAMSEY IN JUNE - IT WAS RECEIVED, CHARGED TO MY CREDIT CARD 'CHASE' AND PAID. NOW THIS AUGUST BILL HAS A CHARGE FOR $19.95 - I DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE CHARGE AND CALLED THE NUMBER ON THE BILL. I WAS TOLD IT WAS FOR MEMBERSHIP FEES...I DISPUTED THIS AND WAS TOLD I JOINED WHEN I GOT SUCH A GOOD DEAL ON THE MONEY MAKEOVER BOOK (I SAVED $5). OF COURSE, I SAID 'YOU ARE WRONG' - PLUS, WHY IF I'M INTERESTED IN SPENDING CAREFULLY ie Money Makeover, WOULD I BUY A MEMBERSHIP IN ANYTHING - I WAS IMMEDIATELY NEARLY YELLED AT AND THE PERSON WAS EXTREMELY ARGUMENTATIVE. I ASKED TO TALK TO A SUPERVISOR AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE PERSON CAME BACK AND SAID THEY WOULD REMOVE THE CHARGE IN A COUPLE OF BILLING CYCLES. I TOLD THEM THEY BETTER DO IT NOW.
I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE NEVER LOOK AT THE CHARGES ON THEIR CREDIT CARDS AND JUST LET THESE THIEVES GET AWAY WITH THIS. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. WHO OVERSEES THIEVES ON THE INTERNET? BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU???

charged and received no book.
I, too, was charged $19.95 for a book I ordered in early August and have yet to receive. Then, the company charged another debit to my account of $15.04 for who-knows-what. So, I am out $34.99 and do not have any book! Where can they be located? The numbers next to the charges appear to be phone numbers but are not.

Unauthorized "Membership Fee"
I ordered a book from DBS Books for a total cost of $4.24. After reviewing my bank account on-line, I discovered a $19.95 charge to my account. I immediately called the 800 number listed and found that the charge was for a "membership fee". I requested a refund since I didn't sign-up for membership and was told that an email was sent with 3 days to respond and that since I had not responded within that time frame the membership fee could not be refunded. I asked to speak to a manager or someone that could authorize the refund and was told there was no one else to talk to. I was offered a P O Box address in Boca Raton, FL where I could submit a complaint. I am furious about this fraudulent, involuntary charge and the response I got from the telephone representative. After some research on the internet, I found over 20 complaints against this company just for the month of August 2009 (today is 8/25/09). This company is STEALING money by way of unauthorized, bogus membership fees. I have forwarded my dispute to my bank to get a refund and will send a complaint to the PO Box in Boca Raton in addition to complaining here and on other "RIP-OFF" websites.

scam artist
I just got scammed by DBS Books for $19.95 a hidden charge because if I had of seen it I would not of purchased anything. DBS Books did cancel the membership fee but they would not return it. When I call I was so pissed off about it that I told them I would not purchase anything else from them again. Wish I had of saw the complaints before making a purchase. My book cost me 14.40 w/ taxes & shipping. It would of been less at Borders if I had of known about the bogus membership fee. DO NOT SHOP AT DBS BOOKS!!!

HIDDEN CHARGE
I ORDERED A BOOK FOR 6.95 FROM THIS COMPANY. I, HOWEVER, DID NOT KNOW THAT I WAS BEING CHARGED A 19.95 MEMBERSHIP FEE, UNTIL I SAW IT ON THE BANK STATEMENT. NO WHERE DURING CHECKOUT DOES IT SAY THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE A MEMBERSHIP TO BUY BOOKS FROM THEM. I ADVISE NO ONE TO PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!

Hidden fee
I bought a book from this company and then they ripped me by charging me a 19.95 fee later. The book was only 5 dollars, but I ended paying for the book in about 25.00 dollars because I did not notice the fee. Avoid this company.

Hidden subscription
I ordered one book for 12.95 and received it with two weeks at the end of May 2009. Then I noticed a $12 charge from DBS Books on my credit card statement. Since I never ordered anything from them, this was apparently a 3rd. party transaction. This book co. is foreign based, something else I wasn't aware of as well. I called my credit card company and they transferred my call to DBS Books. Their rep. kept repeating: " According to the terms of your contract your subscription is $12.00 per month and you could have canceled with 7 days." Since I wasn't aware of any subscription and had never signed up for anything of the kind I protested to no avail. Even the credit card rep. was taking DBS Books side. Therefore, I hung up and talked to another credit card rep. and was told all charges have been removed. Of course we've all heard that before, so I'll wait and see how this scam plays out. Meanwhile beware! Stay away from these unscrupulous blood sucking maggots.

Charing my account
I placed an order for some books I really wanted to read for $18.43. I was waiting and waiting for the books to come. When my husband who ordered some shoes a few days after me got his package before me I was mad. So I got online to check my order and I couldn't find the website for them through Amazon at all! I was so upset and then checked my Banking account and found that they had charged another $19.95 to my account. Now I have to deal with the bank and try and get my money back and hope that they don't charge it ever again or I wont be able to order off line anymore! =( BOO to DBS Books! They suck!
