Civil Docket
DSC and the HOCKETT DOCKET – High Crimes and Misdemeanors
Michael Hockett is a director of Dealer Services Corporation. So why does he have a lawsuit against Marty McFarland, the vice president of DSC? (49D100807PL034448 )
Why is John Fuller being sued by Automotive Finance Corporation in Marion, Indiana court?
Michael D. Hockett, who is not D. Michael Hockett, was one of three men implicated in a bizarre plot to blackmail a Suffolk City, Va., councilor into dropping his opposition to a zoning issue In 2001 Hockett allegedly hired two men to gather information on Suffolk City Councilman Dana Dickens by any means.
The men hired an exotic dancer to go to Councilman Dickens office, where the men would attempt to photograph Dickens and the dancer in a compromising position. Dickens asked the dancer to leave before any photos were taken, so the men took pictures of the woman outside his office door.
When the men later approached Dickens with the photos they were arrested by the police and charged with attempted bribery. The police brought in the FBI because extortion of a public official is a federal crime.
Scott Hockett, 45, faces maximum penalties of 30 years in prison and a fine of $1 million. According to the charges, Scott committed the alleged fraud during a three-year period ending in 2006 while owner of Indianapolis-based Family Management Corp. The company was a wholesaler of used vehicles that operated as Fleetmax.
Adesa is an auto auction company based in Carmel that Scott's father Michael Hocket sold in 1995. The elder Hockett later founded Indianapolis-based Auction Broadcasting Corp., in 2000.
