Hiring Practices
WILMINGTON, NC Applicants ****BEWARE**** I responded to an ad on craigslist, I was offered a Job By the local manager after a second interview, his name was Mark. After a drug test and a criminal background check both wich came back clean( i dont do drugs and was mailed a copy of the criminal background check) both of wich came back clean and two months of run arounds and waiting. Iwas told I would be flying to Indiana on Dec. 6th for a week of training. After two months of waisting time I passed up a couple other job oppurtunities, I was finally told by Mark that he was told I was a no go via email due to my background check. BULLSHIT!!! I have never been arrested and was maied a copy of this background check which came back clean for everything, felonies, misdemeanors, and the national sex offender registry. I bought all the tools I needed a GPS all which totalled close to $300 which is alot of money when you are uneployeed. I have got no answers, all I can figure is Defender direct uses a hiring agrncy that asweres their phone Defender Direct, These two MORONS names are JIM LEE and his "boss" RON HILL these two guys have there heads up there ass's. They will answer your calls at first, until you need them and forget it. JIM LEE actually did return my call once and told me not to call and bother him anymore and to direct all my questions to mark, even though JIM LEE is the one who calle me in the first place. Now Mark ( I wony give his last name) I hope to believe had nothing to do with this, althouth you never know, he would hardly ever return my many tesxts and voicemails and even ignored my Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless to him and his family, he seemed like a nice guy. Beware of this so called Cristian based comapany, they do not care about YOU!!!

Service/Install
This co. is the worst for install, saying what they are going to install, and service!! I signed up with them Dec 2009, their tech was installing wiring in my furnace room and sliced a water line and I had water all over within couple weeks. They tried to say he did not do it, but if you had sliced one of your own water lines, would you put electrical tape around it to try to hide it or fix it? So now they are saying they are not paying for the damages to my walls, ceiling, doors..about $1000.00 plus the cost of replacing the water line. Do not ever use this company for anything!!!

Happy at Defender

No Complaints Here
I've worked at Defender for over 5 years and love it. I feel bad for some of these folks that have had bad experiences, but remember this is a Complain Board - soyou only see upset people. Defender has thousands of employees and like millions of customers... there are going to be some people that aren't happy. In a bad economy Defender has given a bunch of people a chance to makea livin and I've seen them give back to charity as well. They built over 25 homes for the poor in Mexico last year and gave millions to charity too. I don't want to disregard anyone's bad experience, but want to let everyone know that most of the people I talk to around work are very happy and thankful to work at Defender.

Misleading Information
OK... This company misleads potential employees and customers. The website claims that employees would receive a base pay and then work for commission. During my interview the "area manager" told me there is no base pay and would only work for commission, only two hundred and fifty dollars for a weeks worth of out of state training and have to do ride a longs for three weeks and only be compensated twenty five dollars a job!!! You have to use your own car and insurance. He did say you will get thirty five cents a mile for compensations. The manager told me that I would not receive any pay for a month to a month and a half. Now for the really fun part... When people order a security system (ADT) or Dish network, the customer pays a install charge... then the technician is told to get into the house and install the key pad then tell the customer what "package" was ordered, usually bare minimum components, now with no other choice (payed install fee and hole in wall) the customer has to buy more to make it worth the install, and the technician gets paid only if the customer falls for it. I would not work or give any money to this company for services.

Crookes
I used to work for these guys and let me straight with you. The employees are paid upon sales commision and feed off of fear to sell you overpriced equipment. They are only out for themselves, first they make you drive your own car from house to house, secondly they hammer and hammer you into pushing extra equipment on customers, and lastly the interview process is extremely loose meaning they hire anyone no drug test required minimul background check. Some of the people they hire would make me more than nervous if they were to knock on my door. Dont fall for their process which is get in the house install the panel and then press hard for upsells by the time the panel is on the wall you have a hole in your wall and are less likely to ask them to leave. Why you may ask, because defender direct knows that you were promised a far superior product but wat you are getting is anything but, so they get the process started then suprise you with additional fees... They offer gas cards and extra incentives to weary potential customers over the phone to qoute unqoute seal the deal, but like any rebate there's a horrible process that comes along with it and isnt even worth it trust me. If you want ADT go with ADT not Defender Direct or Protect your Home believe me it may be a few more dollars but you'll have few less headaches. Remember im talking from experience as a former employee, I flat out quite because it was unethical wat they were doing and it wieghed on my conscience.

false advertising
This company is horrible! I was referred to them regarding the installation of a home alarm and it turned into a nightmare! they sent no less than 5 installers and the alarm is still not working correctly. they also offered a $100 gas rebate card and $100 visa gift card. I never recieved the visa gift card but the gas rebate card came with a list os stipulations and requirements from some bogus web site probably set up by Defender Direct called www.rebatesrus.net. will I can wait until hell freezes over because I wont waste another stamp or envelope to mail my monly $10 gas receipt in order to get my supposeded $10 rebate. so far not surprisingly i have received nothing! This company needs to be reported to every government agency and local media, and I will start with the media in my home state of New York.
