I bought my Inspiron 1545 laptop on 7/10. Besides crashing numerous times, I now have a message on the plug-in icon that reads: ''consider replacing your battery'' . How can this be, my laptop is not even a year old and I don't use it for business. I got into Dell's chat and the rep. assured me that he would send me a replacement battery since I'm still on the initial warranty. After reading the numerous complaints about Dell, I don't know whether they will send me a new or a refurbished battery. The rep. offered me to renew my warranty since it will expire soon. I asked him how much but he didn't answer me, instead he called me on the phone while still chatting. And like Microsoft and other computer giants, this man is from India, has a very thick accent, talks very fast and I could barely understand what he was trying to say. When I asked him to slow down he got upset. He told me that the renewal of my warranty would be $122.oo for a year, however, it does not cover parts, i.e. battery which costs $165.00. I have seen batteries for my laptop advertised in the internet for $45.00 - $65.00, but I have no experience buying from those places. So now I'm not sure whether I should renew my warranty or not. Please advice me board members.
