here is my complaint i just wrote to delta regarding their "pet first" dept:

on Tuesday May 24th we had a puppy shipped to us via delta pet first.
my breeder not only had a health certificate from her vet but also a health certificate from a vet that i told her to go to. i wanted to be sure that she was a healthy pup. we arrived at delta cargo pickup as soon as her flight landed.
first, the girl behind the counter didnt even acknowledge we were there till about 5 minutes after. she totally ignored us. and its not like she was busy doing anything. she was talking to her coworkers about personal things. then, when she finally asked to help us she wouldnt even look at me. she was acting like she was disgusted to talk to us. my boyfriend and i are very respectable people. well dressed, very clean, and very polite. then, she told us it would be a 60-120 minute wait. when i asked why she told me that the cargo is taken from the plane to a van and then brought over to the cargo area. last year i had a puppy shipped via american airlines and he was waiting by baggage claim within 10 minutes of landing. if this is called "pet first" why was my puppy treated like cargo???!!! then, an hour later a guy walked over to her and she said, "did you find this PIECE?" and she showed him a piece of paper (i guess with the reference number) and he looked at it and asked her if it was a dog. why was a live animal (a dog) called a PIECE??????? finally after another 20-30 minutes later a guy told us that the puppy was there. we walked into the warehouse and picked up our puppy. she was basically on the floor on wooden pellets in her cage. literally there like she was a piece of cargo!!! it was cold and dark in the warehouse.
how do you guys call it PET FIRST when you treated our pet like a package????? the experience was horriffic!!! live animals should immediately be brought over to the pickup area. it was bad enough puppy had a 5-6 hour flight. why would you treat a live animal like this????
