My daughter 23 years old and still a student had a tooth ache. Her father took her to Family dental care to get a tooth extraction. At this time she did not have dental insurance, because of her age.( we are in the process of getting her dental insurance). Mr, Navid Bahrami who works in the front desk started to exagerate her dental problems and being very pushy. My husband explained our economic situation, which it is not very good, and we could not afford expensive work. We clearly told him that she could get the dental work done in Puerto Rico for at least 1/4 of the cost of the work here. Mr. Navid insisited not to do the extraction, but a root canal. using words and acts to make you feel bad about yourself. My husband agreed to do only the work to get her out of pain. While he gave the papers to my husband of the work and at any time the totals he kept talking not letting my husband read to distract him and made him sign papaers without giving him a copy.He told us it would be only 1, 000 to 1, 200 for the job. I called him to talk about the amounts, he treated me with disrespect, telling me to go and study to be a dentist because I doughted of the work, and when I told him we couldn't afford the work he told me that he wasn't a financial adviser ( which I know he is not, I was just telling him that we couldn't afford the 1, 200.
On my daughters next visit they started to work on another tooth, she called me and again I had to Talk to this disrespectful man. My Daughter got home with a bill fo 2, 400. I called him and he said to disregard the total and had all these numbers in pen. Again I insisted in a total. He said that he did not want to talk with me and he wanted to taLK TO MY HUSBAND. We wanted to stop the job, after the root canal, and finish somewhere else. And he threaten us that he was going to charge us anyhow for the crown that it was already made, which we knew it wasn't, because it was just a day after the appointment and the next visit was in 2 weeks. A dental credit card arrived in the mail which we did not ask for. We called and he said it would be only $60 a month. When we received the bill it was for 2, 981.72.
I stated very clearly that we could no afford an expensive work like this that he forced us to take. Without giving us totals. We feel this man, Mr. Navid is steeling from us, and treated me this way for being a woman. No way in the world we would agreed to such an expensive treatment if he would have been honest to the patient and family and to give numbers in advanced.
