Price quotes raised for root canal
I went to Dentalworks for work on a broken tooth. I was charged over 300 dollars for a root canal Oct. 2010. I went back Feb. 2011 and it was supposed to be only 256 dollars and they said 518 dollars to start with, then they made like my tooth was deeply infected and I they would have to custom build a post before putting on the crown. The cost ended up being 537 dollars. I will not be returning for them to do anymore work on my teeth. They will cheat you out of your money and tell you one cost, then double it when you go for your appointment.

SCAM!!! "DEEP CLEANING"
OK, I'll admit it, I skipped going to the dentist for many years. So I made an appointment to go see DentalWorks at their new location in Durham, NC at Southpoint. I was lured in by the promise of "free whitening for life". I should have thought something was amiss when I made the appointment and they wanted to charge $120 for just the exam-- no cleaning included. However, it's been a while, so I didn't know any better. Another red flag should have been that the receptionist kept mentioning that I might need a "deep clean" if things were really bad. The "treatment coordinator" asked me right away (after dealing with the rude receptionists) if I had an electric toothbrush and then began to try and sell me one they sell there. Then the "hygenist" came in and did an exam. She said each gum was bleeding when she did her measurements and that there were "pockets of infection" all over my mouth. She said several of my teeth had "mobility", meaning they are moving all around due to loose gums. She said I had calculus buil-up and BONE LOSS. She said I had STAGE TWO PERIODONTAL DISEASE. Then she mentioned me buying the electric toothbrush as well. She said the x-rays of my back teeth didn't show the severity of the bone loss and pockets of infection and gum disease so she wouldn't even show them to me. She showed me my front teeth and tried to point out the calculus build-up (which I could not see) and how my gums were well below the level they should be at and pointed to areas of bone loss. I was very, very upset to say the least. Then the dentist (who was not the dentist they feautre on their website, photo and bio and all that jazz) came in and confirmirmed I had bone loss and that this was "serious". I had a tooth that had a previous root canal and he said the root canal needed to be done all over again and that I needed to see an endodontist, which he recommended. He said my tooth was infected again and that there was decay. He said I needed a crown on the tooth as well. When it was all over with, the "treatment coordinator" tried to have me buy antiseptic mouthwash and fluoride toothpaste from them for almost $50 (I later got it for $6 at Walgreens). My "treatment estimate" (which stated I would come back every 3 months for cleanings in order to get my lifetime free whitening) came to a whopping $2, 966. I called the endodontist they recommended and that estimate came to about 2k. So I was looking at almost 6k in dental work. I was floored, depressed, and dumbfounded. I asked them to give me information to take home on periodontal disease and they had none to give me other than a booklet saying why I needed to come back every 3 months. I noticed other people leaving with the special toothpaste. I looked at images of gum disease online and read and watched youtube videos. My gums were a healthy light pink and I had no symptoms. Their "deep clean" alone would have been 1k. I went to another dentist where a dear friend's wife works, and DentalWorks emailed over SOMEONE ELSE'S XRAYS and were rude to the staff at the new place. They eventually sent the correct ones. My new dentist said I have absolutely no pockets of infection, no bone loss, no mobility in my teeth and don't even need a crown or a second root canal. I don't have the gum disease they claimed I had and I didn't even need the mouthwash. Total cost for new dentist (including cleaning, exam, internal bleaching, permanent filling, and whitening)? $830. I wish I had done my research and read the similar complaints filed around the country on DentalWorks. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM AND IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE. DO NOT GO THERE.

high prices
These people are very greedy and overcharge for everything! I had one xray and it costs $82.00 and a 10 minute filling was $219.00. They are doing nothing in these hard economic times to hold medical costs down. SHAME ON THEM!

bait and switch
I spoke to the "office manager", a Ms Biviano, re having all my teeth extracted and being fitted for dentures, no problem!!!I went there and the dentist prattled on about soda/tooth decay etc, not the least bit interested in my problems.I walked out.Subsequently Ms Biviano called me and it turns out that Dentalworks will not extract healthy teeth. This is not what I was led to believe, and their advert in the Yellow Pages makes no mention of this proviso. They lied to me to get me in their office so as to promote more expensive care.Beware!!!

filling fell out
I submited a letter to you about my filling falling out about an hour ago. I am submiting you another letter concerning this matter. I went to dentalworks on September 18, 2008. I am now in hardship. Some of the work was not completed. The dentist were helpful in starting the work. I was unable to get money to complete the work that needed to be done and to replace the filling that fell out. At dentalworks the service was good. In the last letter I submited to you, I said it was bad. I thoufgt I was able to pay on my account. Then I was out of work for awhile and my spousal support stop. My bill was $596.00 at that time now my bill is $764.45. I feel that I should not have to pay for work that was not finish. I went to another dentist name Dr. Joseph Lonardo. He said that was never completed and that they charge to much money for the work. Here is his address Biddulph Dental Center 4647 Ridge Rd, Brooklyn, OH 44144 or Email: [email protected]. I wrote a letter to disputes department and I have not heard from them on September 11, 2009. phone for the dentist is (216-)351-6600. I will submit this letter to Richard Cordray Ohio attoney General or Better Buisness Bureau if I do not heard nothing from you.

Bad service
DenatlWorks, 226 Crossroads Blvd., Cary, NC 27511 This chain claims to have lower prices on various dental treatments, which indeed it has. However, it seems they recommend deep cleaning to people who do not require it. I went there in April 2006, after a few years of not going to the dentist, and they told me that my teeth need deep cleaning (~$600). I thought that it might be true, considering my history, yet, in the back of my mind it seemed strange - I don't have any of the symptoms that THEY tell you require deep cleaning (advanced gingivitis - bad breath, bleeding gums, etc.). I told my friend about it, her sister is a dentist, and she told me
that the company her sister works for (in Florida) makes her recommend deep cleaning to everybody. It's a scam...
So I called DentalWorks and told them that I want to have a regular cleaning (about 10 times cheaper) instead. They told me they couldn't do that - they have to follow their recommendations, and that I will have to go somewhere else for a second opinion.
I did that, and my suspicion was confirmed - indeed I did not need deep cleaning. The hygienist was appalled by my story (saying they give bad name to her profession). So if DentalWorks recommends deep cleaning - get a second opinion.
