I have worn a lower partial for almost 20 years. With my previous dentist I never had any problems other than normal wear. With my first partial I had to have another tooth added, the wire that hooks to my original teeth had to be resautered and I would occasionaly have to go in and get it adjusted. After several years and just normal wearing I had to have it replaced and again had no problems. I moved to Washington State 10 years ago and in early fall of last year I had to have my second partial replaced which to this day I regret. It has never fit properly and I had to go in several times to get it adjusted. On one of my visits Dr. Duffin accused me of trying to adjust it myself and when I tried telling him I hadn't touched it other than to take it out and put dental cream on it because it wouldn't stay in he called me a liar. He said that he hadn't adjusted it that way and that I had to have done it. I tried to explain the only time I touched them was every morning to put the cream on so I could eat and talk without them lifting up because they wouldn't stay in. I went in another 2 times to have them adjusted and each time same story, the cream. Even though I had good insurance with my husband's company I still had to pay quite abit out of pocket which was paid in full each visit. Since my second visit and adjustment I have had to wear the dental cream. (I chose the brand Freedont because it seemed to hold longer only to find out recently it has been recalled and has proven to cause permanent complications). Great! Since I have been using it for months. After my last adjustment, having my feelings hurt and still having to use the cream which I had to apply more and more I felt defeated. I recently moved to Custer, South Dakota and we weren't here a week when the metal piece that holds my partial to my permanent teeth broke off (I have it taped to a sticky note and taped to my kitchen outlet so I wouldn't loose it). I am so tired of it not fitting properly after it cost so much. My husband and I are now retired, on a fixed income with medicare insurance, so I am not in a position to visit and pay another dentist for something that I feel should be taken care of by Dr. Duffin. I wrote and explained the situation to him with no response. Because my partial has not and does not fit properly it causes jaw problems resulting in headaches, chewing and stomach problems. I need advice on how to handle this without it costing me again. Thank you for your time.
