On July 1, 2007 as part of a law suit, the state upgraded several jobs to a higher grade. This was done with out checking to see if the employee's actually performed the work tasks required for the higher pay. For example the painter supervisor at other facilities pay grades went from 42G to the new grade of 49G ($22.24 hr). But here at the Washington Correction Center for Women our painter supervisor was called a Construction Maintenance Supervisors. Both are doing the exact same job but because of creative job description writing our painter who is now called a Construction and Maintenance Project Supervisor grade went up to a 56G ($26.44 hr). Five employee's working in maintenance received this increase even though they do not meet the outline of the job description and do no supervise journey level staff. The reason I call this fraud is the employee's know that they do not perform the tasks outlined in the job description and that they are being paid about a $1, 000 per month more than their co-workers at other location performing the same job tasks and say nothing. (Five employees $1, 000 X 12 X 5 = $60, 000 fraud money)

It has now been over a year and I have emailed the govenor, the Union and the superintendent of corrections. No one seems to want to deal with this issue.

Their are five employee's here that received this big raise and this also forced a pay raise for the supervisor. I simply think that all employee's performing the same tasks should get the same pay and creative writing should not be a factor.

So if this is not fraud then the other painters, carpenters, Grounds maintenance, Recycle techanicians and HVAC staff should get the same higher pay. And all Maintenance staff should be called Construction and Maintenance Project Supervisors.

I think that an independed firm should compare actual work peformed to the written job description to see if the tax payers are getting what they pay for.
