This is the first ever tanning salon that I have heard that charges your credit/debit card recurring. My family used to own The Beach tanning salon in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. We NEVER recurred people's tanning because customer's schedules are always changing...plus it's just rude. But hey, we would've made a killing screwing people over, especially if they don't check their bank statements cuz they're too busy working, or whatever else. So this is what Desert Sun does. If you purchase their month package, they gain your credit card number and charge you...until you complain and cancel...not just a one-time charge like MOST other tanning salons do. Our tanning salon would call people ahead of time to let them know they're month was almost up and if they wanted to re-up. It's called customer service. We did the same thing when they just purchased single sessions. If they had one or two sessions left, we'd let them know, and THEY would choose to pay or not, not our business. Desert Sun doesn't check their customers to see who has or hasn't shown up in a while. We did. So here's the complaint:
1) You sign up for a recurring charge for tanning and if you forget to tell them you're not tanning anymore, they'll continue to charge your card without letting you know.
2) They do not check their customers that have stopped tanning to check up on them, or even notify them, or ask how they're doing, like other tanning salons do.
3) To cancel the recurring charges and the account, the manager is required to be present to provide the paperwork to cancel.
Once again, of all tanning salons, this is the only one that I know that does this. I would go to other tanning salons first, check if they are a part of the Smart Tan Network, and double check how they charge your card. Make sure it is not recurring because it's a rip-off and preposterous!!!
