I received inadequate notification that my account was past due and subject to collection. I had been waiting for further information from my insurance company about the amount of money I supposedly owed ($99.50) to Diagnostic Imaging Associates (DIA)for a co-pay on a MRI procedure. DIA forwarded my account to a collections agency, WITHOUT EVER INFORMING ME that they were taking this step. In addition, the collection agency they used (Berks Collections) NEVER notified me, even though they told DIA that they repeatedly tried to contact me. The collection agency reported this to the various credit bureaus, and it has adversely affected my credit rating. When I contacted DIA and spoke to their financial officer, Phillip Seluchins, he admitted that their current billing vendor does not notify patients (customers) if their account is past due to the point of going to collections. He said they are in the process of switching vendors to correct this, but unfortunately, there is nothing they can do to remove this issue from my credit report (even though I had paid the balance in full when I had received an adequate explanation from the insurance company). So, due to the poor customer service at DIA and their collection agency, my pristine credit history is now tarnished. Needless to say, neither myself and my wife, nor anyone we know will ever again use the services of DIA.
