Business Practices:
1. Internet Sales person quoted me a price on the wrong model level, a premium and not the Limited that I asked for. This could be an oversight, but after telling Chris MacNamara several times what model I wanted I don't know if he was not listening or had other reasons for quoting the wrong vehicle.
2. Had to fight my way from parking lot to showroom to meet the sales person who I had made an appointment to see rearding the purchase of a 2011 Subaru Outback Limited 2.5.
3. Staff were overly agressive about signing a document how I heard about the dealership. I was a photocopies page listing all the ways a customer could have found out about the dealership. This was over the top.
4. Sales manager demanded I fill out a credit application to make a cash purchase of the car. My Credit Score came back in the mid 800's.
5. Paid with a personal check. Finance person was very rigid and uncooperative. I had to push to get the name and the email address of the Chief Financial Officer. The Email address is [email protected]. Was told policy was that they needed to hold check for 15 day to make sure it would cash. Due to the way checks are processed these days, being that they are scanned and sent to the bank electronically, check amounts are available to the payee withing 36 to 48 hours. The 15 day hold on a check borders on what the outlaws useded to to do stagecoaches in the wild west, hold them up.
6. Called Judy Schaeffer from finance office informing her of ALL the check information; amount, bank numbers and routing numbers. Asked that they process the check in 3 to 4 days. That was 5:30 on Thursday April 13th. I have not received any response or an e-mail from the company or Judy Schaeffer or her staff responding to my call. It is now 11:52 pm on Thursday April 14.
7. Am anticipating taking the local news crew over for an interview to determine what they are going to do about my check and when they are going to do it.
8. The last car I purchased was a 1996 Volvo 850 turbo wagon from the local big volvo dealer. I was in and out in about a hour. I was kept over 3 and a half hours at Dick Hannah Subaru and I left without having the car in my possesion.
9. The offer on the car I am trying to purchase was $400 less than the offer I got from Wentworth Subaru. I am really wondering if the hastle over $400 was worth it.
10. From the point of view of "Do they Play Well With Others" I would not give them a rating of more than 2 or 3. Being that cars are on the level of comodities; food, water, grain, it seems that an attitude of courtesy and respect would go a long way. Long after the purchase is complete, a sour taste with be in my mouth.
11. Next time, the first person I talked with will be getting my business. And this will be the simple fact that courtesy, respect, honesty and professionalism are priceless.
