service at check out
My first encounter with Dicks was when I purchased rain jackets for my girls online. The didn't fit right so I tried to return them to the store. The manager was very unsympathetic, not willing to be helpful and flat out said we can't take online merchandise. I thought that was a little funny because all other stores that have online shopping will take returns at their store. The next few occasions I shopped at Dicks I find myself getting more and more frustrated at the check out counter. There is always a long line to check out and a long wait. I realized it is because they challenge you over and over again to spend more money; "do you have a Dicks shopping card, do you want to buy the 3 year warranty, do you want to buy to 2 year warranty, do you want to donate a dollar to . . . " No one at Dick's is helpful, friendly or anywhere near tuned into customer service. I used to think of Dick's as my last resort. Now it's off my list completely. Don't bother shopping at Dicks!

Bad service
I went to Dick’s Sporting Goods at South West Plaza Mall in Littleton Co. on 6/20/11. We went to the store to purchase a kayak, life vest and paddle. Aound $300 total. We were greeted as we entered but after that we didn’t see another employee for 30 minutes. Ready, but unsure how to check out ( can’t just carry a 12 foot Kayak up to the counter ) we sought out an empoyee for some help. Nobody was around, so I politely asked one of the register employee if we could get some help. He radioed to some uknown person asking them to meet us over at the kayaks section for customer assistance. We waited for another 30 minutes and nobody arrived. I noticed a young employee flirting with some girls at the backpacks. I attempted to get his attention, he said he would be with us shortly. We waited another 10 minutes and the young man had disappeared. I was basically irritated with the whole situation. We drove to REI down the street and spent $50 more but were repeatedly asked if we needed any help and got everything we needed in a timely and professional manner. I will never set foot in Dick’s Sporting Goods again, and spent my $300 dollars at a competitors store. Thanks so much Dick’s, you just lost a big sale on a high dollar item and any repeat business I may have brought to you.

Failure to honor guarantee
Purchased a $100 pair of football cleats for my son and accepted an offer of a $10 guaranteed for a replacement pair. Approximately 1.5 months after cleats were purchased, they were stolen. We returned to the store with our paperwork to get the replacement pair of cleats and were told by the manager that they would not replace the cleats unless we had the original pair with us. This was not explained when the salesman offered us this "great" deal. My son still has his old cleats from prior to this purchase but we were told it has to be the same pair that was purchased with the guarantee, which is impossible. They should not offer the guarantee if they are not going to stand by it. With a son in team sports, we frequently spend money in Dick's, but will now travel a little farther to Sport Chalet instead.

Avoid Dick's Sporting Goods like a plague
I bought goods today 29 April at Dick's in Frisco, Tx. and my receipt said I could get $10 off on my next over $50 purchase but the site leads me nowehre near the review and we only have 2 days from date of purchase to do this.

Worst service I have ever got
I was in area of cinn. ohio and seen a dickssporting goods store decided to stop in look for scope for grandson went in store first mistake looked for associate for help after finding one mistake#2 taking at least 7 min to find one too busy talking to another clerk for a date waited on me bought scope no box no paperwork no discount just a brief thanks and back to his date he is trying to get set worst service I have ever got will never go this store AGAIN!!!

Racquetball equipment
Over three weeks ago I dropped off a racquetball racquet to be restrung at the Dick's Sporting Goods in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (Carlisle Pike address).
I have continually called over the past three weeks to find out the status of the restringing and have consistantly gotten personel who do not know and said someone would be getting back to me, but never did.
I have not been able to play racquetball since I dropped off the racquet and was told that the only string they had to use to restring it was tennis racquet gut and that it would work. I am not happy with this course of events or limited choice of products. I have just called again today and the person in that department is not in until next week due to the holiday. So there goes another week of delay.
I now just want my money back for the string I purchased and my racquet returned so I take it elsewhere for servicing. Please help!!!

Very poor attitude by store clerk
My dad likes DSG, I have to disagree. Everytime I have been in there I have been disappointed. Now I am tryin to complete their survey and can't get to their feedback site no matter what I do.
Store clerk today said we can't carry everything in the store that we have on line. Well, what do you do for those people without computers that are lookin for products in the store. Poor attitude - he was too busy chewing his tobacco.

Mgr baby sits his kids at store every weekend
It's pretty bad when our hours are severely cut and we no doubt have to perform additional tasks because the store manager brings his kids to work on Sat nights. It almost seems that there is a district policy that allows this that allows this to happen. Let me try that and see what happens.

This was an experience I will not forget
When I entered the store 2 females were talking about the weekend and ignored all customers who came in. When I made it to the fishing area I finally flagged down a guy for a question. He in turn told me to ask the man down the isle for help. I finally found BOB for help as his knowledge was great. At checkout I gave the cashier a 10$ coupon if I spent more than 50$. She then gave it back and said my total to be $48.42. I looked at reciept to only find out the coupon was not taken off. Apparently after mind reading I was $1.58 short. Had the cashier said this instead of just giving the coupon back to me I would have purchased additions product to bring the total up to $50. This was an experience I will not forget.

Both associates treated me with disrespect
I purchased some golf equipment and asked about shoes. The sales associate assisted me reluctantly. I needed an extra wide width. The associate tried to force my foot into a medium. When I said it was much too tight, he replied that the shoe would stretch. I disagreed, having gone that route before and the shoes blew out in a short time. When I asked if the shoes could be special-ordered, he said yes. As he was writing up the order, another associate became involved. That one stated that the shoes would be full price, $129.99, versus $99.99. So I said I felt I was being penalized for having a wide foot. The associate said discounted prices did not apply to special order.
Ironically, I had been in the store several days earlier and asked about ordering shoes. That associate assured me that the sale price applied. On top of this, I felt both associates treated me with disrespect. There was no 'I'm sorry, the sales price can't be applied to special orders' just a flat out 'no sales price'. A little common courtesy goes a long way in retail sales. I do not feel I got that at all.
