Almost ripped off
I am really frustrated with Directv. Last year, I opened an account for my children's father who is diabled. I used my debit card because he didn't have one. A few months into his service, he was being told he hadn't made a payment. (One that he had proof of making) His bank sent numerous statements showing this payment had been made. For months his service was interupted and I still don't know if the problem was truly corrected. Finally he did not them pay them for one month. Even with their errors considered, he owed under $200.00. I called to set up a plan to get the account taken care of. I was told they would credit the account $100.00 and he had until a certain date to make the agreed payment of 92.00 and they would offer this credit until then. Before that time limit was up, Directv tried to withdraw almost $1, 500.00 from my account. I called them and they said that the offer was expired and we had 1 day to pay 200.00 and that he had not paid another payment...one that I saw proof of that he had. By then he had already been sent boxes to return their equipment...all of this while I was under the impression that we had a "noted" arrangement. I am done with their service. My bank account is closed, and they will have to send my account to collections! I would have tried to settle with them, but I no longer trust that they will not simply "not have records" of payments that were made or try to withdraw money from my account while I still believe I am under a contract with them. I am just lucky that my bank denied the transaction and helped me to fix the problem. Even my bank is aware of Dircectv's tactics.
