my bill
I was called about my bill, I told the person I would like to pay my bill, but at this time my husband and I aren't working. The woman told me to hold on.She came back and told me that they were going to go ahead and credit my bill $100.00, and if I can pay $50.00 by the 26th of May that they would turn us back on.We paid that $50.00 on May 14th, over the phone.I called and they told me there was nothing in computers or thier notes about the $100.00 credit. That phone call I got should have been recorded. She called me at 6:10 pm on May 10 2010, and the number she called from was 1-866-544-8416.Please help me out.

Like the villains in a Dickens’ novel, they come after you
Widows and Orphans Beware of Direct TV Apparently they desperately need our money. I signed up for a trial of a package of Verizon and Direct TV services that did not work out. Verizon listened; Direct TV decidedly did not. You should know that if you try Direct TV, even for a few days, you owe them $500. Period. Like the villains in a Dickens’ novel, they come after you. Even if you did not contract with them directly but through a partner. Even if the partner (in this case Verizon) issues a full refund. Not Direct TV.

Deceiving and dishonest
This Satellite company, "Direct TV, " charges a cancellation fee per month for 2 yrs contract. I have always been a cable person where this has never been an issue. I rent..so RENTERS BEWARE! When you sign up, which I did verbally by phone never was it mentioned that you go on contract for 2 years. I happened to move to a place that included cable in my rent. They had no flexability for this situation. They went into my bank account and took almost $400.00 out without my consent. They were very rude and frustrating on the phone. They made no exception. I have since been able to get my bank to have them put back the money but now they have put me into collections. Direct TV uses deceptive business practices by telling you that when you sign for the equipment the contract is on the back. I challenged that and said to fax me, "the said contract, " that shows my signiture and of course they couldn't but waisted more of my time in arguing more on the fee. No mention of cancellation fee or contract at the beginning of sale or even at installation was advised. This proves they do not communicate their business practices honorably.

Illegal Contract
I have been a customer of Directv (DTV)for over 5 years. Recently, my personally owned receiver gave out. After realizing I could no longer purchase retail, I contacted DTV via phone.
I was advised that I had to purchase a receiver and was told of the cost, over 100.00. After receiving and installing the receiver, I noticed "sticking" during playback of recorded programs. I contact DTV via phone was was instructed to perform several tests. After the tests, DTV determined the receiver needed replacing.
After receiving and installing the replacement receiver, I had terrible quality and recording error issues. Once again contacted DTV and had to perform more tests. The DTV customer service rep advised that a repair tech needed to come to my house and that there will be a charge. I asked why a charge and was told they only replace equipment once and after that, there would be a charge. I informed her the replacement receiver had scratches and clearly had been opened. She said it was a reconditioned receiver.
I advised the Cust Serv Rep to cancel my account and I would return the receiver. I was told that I in fact leased the receiver and by doing so entered into a 2 year contract. I said I knew absolutely nothing about this and that there was no language what so ever about a contract on the receipt or packing slip, the only paperwork received with the receiver. The customer service rep informed me that the rep who took my order should have told me on the phone and that there was nothing they can do!
So as a customer who has never missed or been late with payments for over 5 years, I am now stuck with an expense of well over $100.00, a used and abused receiver, recorded programs that are partially recorded due to malfunctions, a receiver that reboots itself while I am watching TV shows, and a "tivo" menu that is not updating correctly. Furthermore, if I cancel, DTV claims I will be turned into collection!
Directv can't produce a contract, can't produce any evidence of any conversation advising me about a contract, excepted my order for a receiver over the phone, wants to charge me to repair the receiver within 3 days after receiving it, but yet tells me I am under a contract and that they will charge my card that I registered cancellation fees plus additional costs for the receiver and if I cancel the charge transaction, they will turn me into collection?
There are hundreds of complaints across the internet but no member of government or law will take an interest! what is DTV doing to keep this from happening? This is one of the worse scams in recent history and no one will stop them. The CEO and CFO of DTV should be put in prison!

Liars, Liars, Liars
Lied about everything from the very beginning from the original sales rep who told me that my contract was for 12 months and after install I'm sent a piece of paper stating that its for 12 months at the promo rate and an additional 6 months at full rate. Was never told by sales rep about this. When I tried to cancel after 12 months I was told that I owed about 14 dollars by 2 different reps on the phone for early cancellation and now I just received a bill for over $100 for early cancellation. Customer service no help what so ever. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DON'T GET DIRECT TV. HORRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE AND THEY LOST THIS COSTUMER FOR LIFE.

Illegal Contract/Ripoff
On February 25, 2009 I placed an order for AT&T U-verse triple package installation. The AT&T sales representative called me and I received a confirmation number along with a date of March 16, 2009. On March 16, a directv tech came to my house.I asked him why he was at my door and he said, Directv is doing contracting work for At&t cable service. I let him in thinking he was placing AT&T cable and on top of that, he didn't complete any installation for phone and the internet service. So I began to make calls to AT&T and Direct tv to resolve the problem. At&t finally sent a tech out to install U-verse. In the meantime, a representative from At&t called direct tv along with me on the phone and explained what happened. I don't know if she typed any information into my account. Well, I have been calling Directv to cancel my account. I was informed that I would have to pay for a contract I agreed to which is for a year and a half. How can I agree to anything when I never even mentioned directv while placing the order. The supervisor says, that they sent me a confirmation letter that I never seen or signed. How can I be held accountable for something I didn't request or confirm. I have been working with At&t to resolve this problem but I am so appauled that I have to take some form of action as soon as possible. If you can help me in any kind of way, I would appreciate it. Also the supervisor wouldn't give me the number to their headquarters nor her last name. She wouldn't even give me the name of the sales lady, just her I.D.I'm not sure if that's even correct. We all work too hard for our money for someone to take advantage of a situation. This is downright disrespectful, abusive, and it should be illegal.
