We have been an avid customer of Direct TV for over 10 years. We recently purchased an HDTV. We called Direct TV to hook up the service on this 1 TV. The guy came out and hooked it up. Stuck some papers in front of my husband and asked for his signature. When we asked what it was he said that it verified that we got the equipment. He signed it. About 3 weeks later, I had to have surgery that we couldn't afford. We sold the TV. We called Direct TV and asked then how could we send them the box back. They sent us a "kit" which consisted of an empty box. We sent the unit back. We are now selling our house. Again this has all happened in a 3-5 week timeframe. We called Direct TV to cancel the service (we have 2 more TV's that are HDTV) again to save money. Direct TV employees were very rude, talked over us when we were talking etc. We asked them to disconnect the service, and they said no problem and you owe us $400!!! We only sold the SONY HDTV for $400. We tried to explain our situation and that we didn't know that we signed a contract. They would not budge an inch. This is such a scam. The guy that shoved the paper in front of us sold us a HDTV cord (that we didn't even need) for $50 on the side. I want everyone to know do not go with Direct Tv HDTV. It will cost you lots of $$$$$. It is a SCAM!!! If you don't believe me google how to get out of a Direct TV contract and read the millions of dissappointed customers.
