Lack Of Service
88 bed nursing home with 60 residents that have had no TV since June 27, 2011 when a storm came through. Called immediately and almost everyday as have 60 residents with 5 familiy members each either calling me or in my office complaining. We do not charge for this service as we are a County owned facility and offer this to our residents. The company referred to help with this cannot find anyone to come check out the pproblem bur a resident ordered a personal dish and the Direct TV representativre was here pronto to sign up the new business!!! Now Direct TV wanted me to Pay $800.00 plus to FIX the problem with new receivers. All worked fine before storm want same ole same ole and TV service for the 70 - 80 - 90 and 100 year old nursing home residents in this facility. We were paying almost $200.00 per month and always paid our bill!!! Anybody out there know what I can do about it????

customer service
It stinks read all the above - it is true. Customer service is a joke. Billing is too. Do not give them your debit card or credit card. I learned that from previous blogs. Read the customer agreement on line that you have to agree to get service They try to tie you in to contracts verbal or on line. If you do not agree you do not get service. If you decide the service is bad - they go into your debit account or credit card and take what they decide is appropriate. I did not fall into that because, I have read these blogs. Think twice before you give them a credit or debit card and read their disclosure. I am in an area where the only other option I have is Insight, which if you look at reviews is not a good option. I will say I am pleased with the menu selection and and layout and the information presented on programs and movies. But if you have an issue, they have degraded their service to the customer and put the responsibility of resolving the problem on the customer. I am currently into an upgrade and I have spent 2 hours on the phone, 6 customer reps or tech and lack of service because a service tech install the wrong equipment, which they acknowledge. The sad thing is that they have made it my problem not theirs. I hope this help someone become more diligent about what they agree to and that they compare the customer service of other companies with this company.

My card card is on file at direct tv. They have charged my credit card three diffrent times. One didnt go through. AND is LYING on me saying that I called those payments in!! WHY when i barley have GAS money to make it to work, WHY WOULD I TRY TO PAY THEM 3 TIMES IN ONE MONTH WHEN MY BILLING HAS ALWAYS BEEN BEHIND!!! NOW THEY WONT CREDIT MY MONEY BACK BECAUSE IT WAS MY ACCOUNT BUT I DID NOT AUTHORIZED ANYONE NOR DRECTTV TO CHARGE MY ACCOUNT. ITS ALL GOOD I BET YOU WONT HAVE ANOTHER CREDIT CARD OF MINES ON FILE!!!

I called telling direct Tv I am gonna move to a place for a short time and will move again within six months, they clearly told me it will be $50 for a second move then when I called to transfer second time then they inform me about moving before a year it will be $200 to transfer. Also I told them my receiver is not working they say no problem gave me another one and added an extra year to my contract telling me that i got a upgraded receiver (they never told me that )I just wanted the same one I had..Like someone said they hide the truth until it comes for you to pay..I talked to many agents all they say is Oh I am sorry ..RECTIFY THE SITUATION WHY DONT YOU

Lies and poor sevice
I am new to Direct TV and really wish I had found this site before getting sucked into the Direct TV scam.
The salesman at Sam's Club told me that the national average for outage is less than 6 minutes a year, because I had heard that satellite service was often effected by weather. I have had it for 14 days and in that time half the shows I set up to be recorded by the dvr has failed to record because the satellite lost service. I guess I have already used up 50 years worth of " 6 minutes a year"
The dvr's also record reruns even when set up to record first run only.When I call CS about it, they said that shouldn't happen, but that is as far as it goes, they do nothing to repair the problem.Also don't believe them when they say that installation is free, I was charged $60 per hook up . $180 and they didn't set my computer up to work with the TV . The installer told me that it would go into effect when I hooked up my router, but surprise, surprise that didn't work. When I called CS I was informed that would need a service call and that would cost another $128 to have done.
Folks, I just got Direct TV and I want to tell anyone that reads this. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN FROM THIS COMPANY. They should be held accountable for their practices, but as always the government is on the side of big business and more than happy to screw the little man. Oh and I have the paper that the salesman filled out at Sam's showing what I was getting and a brake down of the cost. When I asked CS why the figures didn't match with what I was charged, I was told the salesman doesn't work for Direct TV and they aren't responsible for what they tell the consumer, but that we are responsible to honor anything they told us that benefits the company.

$180 Costco Cash Card - Consumer Fraud Scam
Beware of the slippery setup when ordering Direct TV through the Costco website. Direct TV & Costco promise a $180 Costco Cash Card as a promotion when committing to a two year service agreement with direct TV through Costco. I went to the Costco website and signed up for the qualifying satellite TV package. One month later when I called to see when I might expect to receive the $180 cash card in the mail as promised, I have been told that I do not qualify because I signed up with Direct TV directly and not through Costco. I have never once contacted Direct TV through any other phone number other than the one posted on the DIRECTTV COSTCO CONNECTION CENTER ( http://cw.directv.com/DTVAPP/index.jsp?CMP=LEC-Costco-1000 ) . This may be because I was transferred from one representative to another. I have no way to find out. The result is a classic case of bait and switch and I am shocked that companies using such main stream brands as Direct TV and Costco so blatantly commit this type of fraud. Equally shocking is the fact that they offer no recourse for legitimate complaints. They refuse to escalate my complaints and I am told there is nothing they can do. I'm stuck with a two year contract. The $180 Cash Card promotion was the promise that caused me to commit to two years of the service. IMPORTANT - the sales rep who sold the service to me also made other promises that were never honored by Direct TV such as the flexibility choose different types of HD converter boxes. They also misrepresented their internet provider partner Century link. I have given up on those issues. I'm not giving up on the cash card promo fraud. That was the straw that put me over the edge. I don’t usually take the time to complain but this is blatant fraud.

Chanrged for HBO etc., when not subscribed
I had subscribed for Select montlhy costing 44.99, however they included HBO/STRX/SHOWTIME/CINEMAX, costing $45.00. These channels where not authorized by me. They say that they had given these cahnnels free with my previous package, and since I cancelled the pervious package they are now chan=rging me for the special channels. I was not informed about this before. I have called direct TV for immediate cancellation, however they are not going to credit me the chan=rges for the past month.
Since I have not subscrbed for this service, I think, they have charged me un ethically.

I find that the "That's the truth, Truth!" ccommercial that is currently running on TV very offensive. It shows a child hitting a elderly white man in the stomach, for no reason! Does this promote more violence? In my mind, the answer is YES! I live 20 miles from Flint, MI> The City that is #1 in crime. Why would they show a african-american child hitting a white elderly man ? Was this a part of the ad? NO. So why was it put into the AD. What is this promoting? My view? Violence agaist the elderly! African-american violence involving children! Two things that you sure don't need to promote or show more of on TV (or elsewhere!).

Pulling money from bank acct
STAY AWAY FROM DIRECT TV!!! We didn't have issues with Direct TV until we no longer had their service. My husband speaks to them on a Wednesday, then, without giving us enough time to receive their equipment shipping boxes, they pull over $300 from our account on Friday! Not once did their rep even imply this would be done. When I call to demand they refund my bank account, I get the "nothing we can do " story. Save yourself stress and absolutely find a different company unless you don't mind unauthorized, deceptive practice!

CANCELLATION
DO NOT USE DISH SATELLITE. I tried to cancel my mom-in-laws account and have them wave the cancellation fee. Not only do you have to climb on your roof and get parts off the dish along with returning the receiver and remote, (REALLY) being 89, no longer being able to live alone, and finally death are not good enough. You have to have a Dr. sign a paper saying she would not get better or ever be able to return home. REALLY??
I guess it really is all about money. To add insult to injury they said I could speak to a supervisor and put me on hold for 25 min. until I finally hung up and called back it. Great company.
